Sounds like possibly a sloppy bearing causing the drum to wobble excessively nothing can be done to avoid this other than change the bearing. always assuming your load isn't seriously out of balance of course.

LOT OF THINGS TO CHECK, THE BELT LOOSE OR WORN, THE CLUTCH, THE TRANNY, THE BEARINGS BOTH TUB SEAL AND BEARING, THE REAR DRUM BEARING,
THE DRIVE PULLEY- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive pulley might be worn out, cracked, loose or bent. Remove the drive pulley and inspect it carefully. If it is damaged or defective replace it.
THE TRANSMISSION, THE MOTOR COUPLER, THE MOTOR DRIVE BEARINGS,
THE DRIVE MOTOR- If the washer is making a loud noise the drive motor bearings may have worn out. Washer motors are normally almost silent when they run. If the motor is run without a belt hooked up to it and it's loud it will have to be replaced.
Sounds like the main drum bearings have siezed up.
If it was noisy before stopping and the noise has been getting worse, then It wikk be the main bearings.
This is a major repair to undertake, and if the washer is more than 5 years old, I would seriously consider replacing it.
Most likely is a wheel bearing needing replacement. Try taking your foot off the gas and coasting. If it does not change it is the wheel bearing. If it does change it could be one of the pully's for the fan belts
Good morning! It's common to hear a loud thumping noise during spinning because the load (clothes) are not properly place in the tub. Please try to put the load in order & compress it down. best regards.
I am not sure when yours is making the noise, but I have a GE side by side and mine would make a similar noise when the compressor shut off. Check your warranty paperwork, I think GE has a warranty on the compressor for 5 years. It sounds like your compressor is going bad. If its in warranty, remember " the squeaky wheel gets the oil" complain until they fix it.
Sometimes when the repairman is there, it takes a little pushing to get them going in the right direction and to acknowledge compressor problems. Mine has a new compressor and runs like a champ.
