SOURCE: How to empty a Tech Solutions TS8000 shredder

Pull the top of the basket toward you and the top of it should swing out. Then you can lift the basket up and out once the top of the basket is partly open. Hope this helps. Have a good day. Mac =)

Can not get paper to shred

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

Does it make a difference which shredder oil I use? There are so many. I have a Tech Solutions cross cut TS8000.

You can use any kind of shredder oil. They are all priced so differently, I use fellows brand for my royal shredder & it works just fine.

Either there is a piece of paper that is jammed where the paper in sensor is located, or there is paper fibers covering the paper in sensor, or the paper in sensor is defective.

The paper in sensor is usually located in the center of the shredder where you place your paper. Once you locate your sensor, you can try blowing it out with a can of air that is used to clean your keyboard out.
Since the opening for the paper or the Thoat width is 9", the switch should be close to 4.5" towards the center.
To try to help you located the sensor, take a piece of 8 1/2 " x 11 paper and fold it in 1/2 Long ways. This will place a crease in the middle of the paper. With the power off, or unplugged, place the paper in the shredder and look around where the middle of the paper (crease) lines up in the shredder. You might need a flashlight to help you located it. It will either look like a slot, or a little black lever.
Hopefully you will be able to blow the sensor out and clean it.
Good luck.
