From what i can tell, yes and no. if you're using larger line then you can use a non-offset eye. but for smaller line the eye of offset as per the manual instructions which are still pretty vague

When kids get stuff in their eyes like sand etc what are you supposed to do about it? It happens to my son all the time and he cries a lot and I actually dont know how best to help him.

If you get anything in your eye such as sand or sawdust, it's very important that you don't rub it. Try and flush the eye out for a few minutes with lukewarm water. If after a while it is still bothering you, you may need to see an eye specialist.

Have red eye on pictures and thought it was suppose to get rid of red eye

Red eye reduction is a feature that has to be turned on in the camera settings. It isn't turned on by default. It isn't perfect anyway- you may still get some red-eye. This can be further reduced or removed by editing the pics in a graphics editing program on a computer.

Check the flash mode. If Red-eye reduction is turned on, there'll be a delay while the red-eye lamp lights.

Some of my pics are great but most are awful

Are you pressing the shutter button half-way and allowing the camera to lock in focus before you press the rest of the way? Red-eye is common to all point-and-shoot cameras because the flash is almost in line with the lens. This can be removed with many photo programs. Your camera has a red-eye setting which pre-flashes to eliminate the red-eye effect.

Will Nikon D300 focus with the 11 point AF11 setting?

You may want to consider fine tuning the lenses. I understand that you want the shallow depth of field, but the lens is sharpest at the middle f stops. What is the comparison between a stationary object like an apple or grape (something with a circular shape). I understand you have a higher shutter speed, but the small movements of a person could cause variances in a single focus mode. Are you using the half-shutter press for focus or the AF-E button? Tripod? Remote shutter release?

I asked about the distance relative to the lens length because the DOF can really change based on this. I have found this recently with my macro work so I wanted to find out if you have experimented with this or fired a bunch of shots at a single setup.

Animal Eyes

I've seen some of those white eyes photos. Some are down right scary. I'm sure you have encountered red-eye when taking flash photos of people. With some animals, it is not red - but white. .... Try to catch the animal looking away from the camera when you take that flash picture. Have someone distract him/her. ............
