Make sure that the battery is fully charged. Connect the MP player (while it is on) to a computer with a USB Mini-B (5-pin) to USB type A cable. This is a standard charging cable for older cell phones and tablets.
With Windows, you should see an Auto-play option for what you want to do with the device. Choose the Open Folder to View Files (Windows Explorer) option. Assuming the original software is still on the MP828, install the Coby Media Manager onto the computer. (This file is labeled Coby-cometlite.) If auto-play doesn't launch, open My Computer/Computer by double-clicking on the icon on your desktop. Find the new removable drive and double-click on it.
For Mac OSX, you'll need to launch the Finder Window and look for the removable media. Open the Mac OSX Coby Media Manager folder. Then find the coby-mediamanager.dmg file. Install the software.
You can transfer files with the Media Manager after launching the CMM program. Since the Coby MP3 player works like a removable USB drive, you could also drag and drop files from one folder onto the Coby MP3 player's folders
The manual for the Coby MP828 is available online here: http://assetserver.net/_Assets/Coby/PDF/MP8288GBLU-Manual.pdf .
I hope this helps.
