How come my lithium 18v battery (194205-3) wont fit on my new Makita 6 1/2 circular saw?

I sell & repair the Makita line of tools and the BL1830 (194205-3) battery is designed to fit on Makita's entire line of 18-volt tools. You didn't give the model number of your saw so my best suggestion is to make sure the saw is an 18-volt tool then make sure the tool's and battery's mating surfaces are OK. Try the battery in other tools & try other batteries on the saw. If this doesn't help please respond with the saw's model number or what you found out doing what I've suggested.

How to get motor out of houseing on a makita 5007MG circular saw

The armature and field will need to come out. It's quite a bit of work to swap everything over. Here is a parts diagram which should help.

I have been using a Makita random orbit sander model BO5010 for years without problems until I replaced the pad with a Porter Cable 13910, sold as compatible. Now the sander takes off, ie: increases speed...

HI, i have a feeling the pad could be the issue there. The genuine Makita one is designed for the motor, so unless the the replacement is exactly the same thickness, diameter, and weight then you will have problems. Imagine putting a small wheel designed for a car on a truck, that kind of issue. Best thing to do is to try putting the old Makita pad back onto the machine and see if that make any difference. (that is if you still have it) At work we have had similar problems where we have used non-genuine circular saw blades onto our Makita saws, and its has burnt the motor out.
