You most likely have a central locking system that will stay locked until you can unhook the battery. This is sounds like a similar problem I had with my 95 BMW.
you should clean the locking mecanism and then lubricate with WD40. If this is a van, my van has a sliding power door on the pass side and a manual slider on the drivers. alot of times the drivers locks and dont lock like it has a mind of its own but it always works with the drivers controls. and then the next time i dont think about it and it works. now it also has child proof locks on them, a little plastic lever you slide up and down as to put in a lock position so child cant open from inside and down to allow door to open from inside. double check this. it wont unlock with the key or power? you might have to take off inner door panel to manually unlock this and get it lubed
turn key twice when opening, ie turn right. once drivers door will unlock, turn twice passengers doors will unlock, and locking is turn anti clock wise once will lock all doors, turn twice will set door dead locks.dead locks will stop openand lock internal button working and handle from opening door. the same actions can be applied to the remote one press drivers door, two press passenger doors, press and hold unlock button for 5 seconds and rear window will open.
central locking on my 93 corsa with standard key, not electronic type as used on later models, all doors are locked and refuse to open, ive checked fuse and thats ok, doors refuse to open from inside the vehicle and from outside, only the tailgate will open from the key, any ideas ,,, thanks dave
I assume you mean a 1991 Previa (that was the first year of the model). It is likely you have broken a small spring inside the door that connects the handle to the latch. The only way to tell is to remove the inner door panel (two screws: one under the door handle and one midway along the upper part of the interior door structure then pull out and up).
