The motor has thermal protection. If it heats up the protection turns it off. Then it won't start until it is cooled down. Check if anything is obstructing the path of the air. First on the suction side. Failing that it is possible, but tedious to get the top cover off to look at the motor and air exit path. Look for a combination of screws and snapons. My model 116 had one screw and then the sides of the top cover was napped on.
