either the gas valve is not opening or your not getting gas to the furnace.  also the gas valve won't open unless the draft motor comes on.  if the ignitor is trying to light, but there's no gas, it might be a bad gas valve. i would call your closest NATE certified contractor

SOURCE: Carrier Weathermaker SXI Model 58SX8100LG Code 12

Code 12 I believe is power up after power off and a call for heat from the the thermostat. If you have a weak door switch that may be vibrating and going on and off it would cause this as would any thing that causes the power to drop low or out then reapply its self. try holding the door switch in while watching the board and after 2 or 3 minutes the furnace should go on to lite and the blower cycle off. If it stays in this mode try turning the thermostat off (heat - OFF -cool) and then push in the door switch nothing should happen except the lite on the board come on and stay on. If it does this than have someone turn the thermostat to heat and see if it starts or put the door on and set the heat and see if *** goes through the normal cycle of heating. If however it goes right back into the blower mode and shows the 12 code your problem is still with you. So next remove the wire on the "W" terminal on the board. Retry power to the door switch and now nothing should be on except the red lite. If it tries to start the 12 code and blower up again Im pretty sure you have a bad ignition/blower control board.

the e2 error on your thermostat is a problem with the return temp sensor on your system, the only thing you can really do is call a company and replace it, you can't bypass it or remove it cause the system wont run properly

SOURCE: Carrier furnace, pilot does not light, fans run

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

Nissan pulsar 1987 n13 the ECM light came one and the car cut out and won't start again and I need to know where the ECM is

Hi, the computer is under the passenger's seat. Code extraction procedure is pasted below.

READING CODES Modes will not switch while the engine is running. The ECM automatically switches to MODE I when the ignition is switchedOFF.
1984-90 Vehicles With Dual LED System
The self-diagnostic system has 5 modes. To switch modes, switch the ignition ON and use a screwdriver to turn the mode select switch through the access port on the ECM. The inspection lights will begin to flash. When the desired mode has been entered, turn the screwdriver fully counterclockwise. The red LED and green LED perform different functions in different modes.
Mode I-
This is the normal vehicle operating mode. The green LED will indicate loop status. If the green LED is not blinking when the engine is running, the vehicle is in open loop, or the HO 2 S, O 2 S, or sensor circuit has a malfunction. If the green LED is blinking, the vehicle is in closed loop. If a malfunction takes place, the red LED and the MIL will glow, indicating a malfunction has occurred.
Mode II-
Both the red LED and green LED are used to monitor mixture ratio feedback control. The green LED will function as described in MODE I. If vehicle is in open loop, the red LED and green LED will remain on or off. In order for results to be valid, vehicle must be in closed loop. In closed loop, the red LED remains off if the system is running rich, comes on if the system is running lean, and blinks at the same time with the green LED if system is within 5% of the exact air/fuel ratio.
Mode III
-When this mode is accessed, the codes stored in the ECM's memory will be flashed by the green LED and red LED on the side of the ECM. The red LED will light first. This is the first digit of the trouble code; the green LED will flash next, showing the second digit of the code. For example: 2 flashes of the red LED followed by 1 flash of the green LED corresponds to Code 21.
Mode IV-
This mode is used for checking the throttle plate (TP) switch, starter, and vehicle speed switch status. When the TP switch or starter switch is activated, the red LED will briefly flash as the status changes. For VSS status, the green LED will remain off when vehicle speed is less than 12 mph (19 km/h) and come on when vehicle speed is greater than 12 mph (19 km/h).
Mode V-
This mode represents a real-time diagnostic test of the crank angle sensor, ignition signal and the mass airflow signal. The malfunction code will be displayed only when the malfunction occurs and will not be stored in memory. The output code will appear as a single or short string of pulses. Count the number of pulses for the malfunction code.

1 pulse-CMP sensor signal lost or noise in signal 2 pulses-MAF Sensor signal abnormal 3 pulses-Fuel pump circuit shorted or open 4 pulses-Ignition signal lost

I was trying to backup my server while exchanging DLT tapes, the tape in use light stayed on and the serve would then alternate to four flashing lights and then back to flashing "Tape In Use...

Hello,

Try the following action to resovle your issue:

1. Run the Drive Assessment Test in HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools.

CAUTION: Running the Drive Assessment Test overwrites the tape. If it is not possible to

overwrite the tape, run the logs-based Device Analysis Test instead.
2. Check the backup logs.

3. Verify that a supported configuration is being used.

4. Check for media damage:

o Incorrect label placement

o Broken, missing, or loose leader pin

o Damaged cartridge seam

o Usage in incorrect environment

5. Check for software issues:

a. Check the backup software.

b. Check that virus scanning software is not scheduled to run at the same time as the back-up.

6. Verify that a tape can be formatted.

Tape Error LED is flashing:

1. Reload the suspect tape. If the Tape Error LED stops flashing, the problem has cleared.

2. Load a new or known good tape. If the Tape Error LED stops flashing, the problem has cleared.

3. Reload the suspect tape. If the Tape Error LED flashes, discard the suspect media as faulty.

From my experience, most of the time it is a bad tape, using a new tape usually solves the problem. If after inserting a new tape and the problem exist, you may need to update your firmware/backup software.

Good Luck

Error code 0502 can you tell me what is the problem

Hi. Please see below procedure on how to resolved this issue.

All the best!

Hardware Error 0502 on LCD Display ID:ENUS16536

Check the encoder strip on the printer. (This is a clear strip running the length of the printer, above or behind the cartridge carrier.) Do the following:
1. Switch off the printer using the power button.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the Lexmark X5100 / X6100 Series.
3. Leave the power cable disconnected for 30 seconds.
4. Slide the cartridge carrier to the middle of the printer by taking the top part of the belt and moving it gently to the right.
5. Take out both cartridges.
6. Place an index finger on the encoder strip on either side of the cartridge carrier.
7. On the back of the cartridge carrier, there is a small slot that the encoder strip fits into. Slightly push the encoder strip down and then back up to get it into the slot.
8. Lightly press the strip first to the rear and then forward, if necessary.
9. Clean the encoder strip with a dry tissue. Also clean the contacts of the printer.
10. Reconnect the power cable and switch the printer on again.
11. Perform the hardware test without cartridges first and then with both cartridges.*
12. Make a standalone copy.
13. If the copy is satisfactory, repeat the test once to confirm that the error is gone.

How to Perform the Hardware Test on the Lexmark X5150 ID:ENUS3744

Using the operator panel on the printer:
1. Press the Option button 10 times until Cartridges appears on the LED display.
2. Press the + button 4 times until Self test appears on the LED Display.
3. Press Select. The printer should print a sheet of paper with one black bar and one grey bar.
4. If the printer fails to print, remove both cartridges and try the test again. (It will feed the paper through and print a blank page.)
5. If the test works with no cartridges in the printer, run it again with one cartridge at a time installed.

Alignment problem hardware error 0502. Printer is an X6150.Can n

The encoder strip is most likely the problem. Unplug the power from the printer. Open the front cover and move the cartridge carrier to the center. You should see a white ribbon cable, a thin plastic strip and a black belt with teeth.

The thin plastic strip is the encoder strip. It rides in a sensor on the back of the cartridge carrier that you will not be able to see. Reach in with the first finger of either hand and carefully strum the strip as if playing a guitar.

The strip will need to be lowered slightly and brought towards you slightly. Please be careful not to break the strip or your printer will not function. Once you believe the strip is set correctly, plug the power back and try printing the self test.

To self-test the printer, please follow the steps given below:

1. Press the "Options" button 9 times. "Maintenance/Align" should now appear in the display screen.
2. Press the "Right Arrow (+)" until "Test" appears.
3. Press "Select."

You should see text followed by a thick 1-inch black bar. Under this bar, should be a process gray bar about a 1/2-inch thick. Below this line should be a set of railroad like bars of cyan, magenta, and yellow.

Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with only the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues, we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.

If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

If it slams to the left again, the strip is not yet set correctly.

If you cannot repair the strip, please contact Lexmark tech support for further assistance.
