There was a factory recall for this problem which apparently related to the brake switch. So check with hyundai service on that recall.

Testimonial: "Thanks Sean. I had seen this info and the recalls. I had the brake switch replaced as part of the recall back a number of years ago and just tried replacing it again but it did not correct the problem. The bulb looked fine but I ended up replacing it and it solved the issue."

Hyundai Sonata 2006 v6 brake lights wont work but the rest of the lights work. Also fuses are good and replaced brake switch by pedal and still no brake lights.

Did you ever check to see if power is reaching the bulbs when brake pedal is depressed? Are bulbs properly grounded?

I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata and the brake lights (all of them) are not working. I checked the fuse and changed the brake bulbs. Do you have any other suggestions?

Check the following :
1. First of all check the fuse of the brake lamp circuit. use a multimeter to check the +12 volt or use a test lamp of 12 volts.
2. Check the brake lamp pressure switch which is mounted on the master cyclinder- brake pedal. check for connection fault , check for voltage on switch as it must contact when the brake is applied .
3. chek the line to the brake lamp/tail lamp assembly . Check the GROUND connection of the lamp unit, check the holders.
A voltage absence till the lamp end will confirm the area of fault.

Rear break light will not go on but rear window break light will

could be the light itself, the red brake wire that comes off the rear brake lights that feeds this stop light, sometimes things get shoved against this wire and its cut,or if it splits off in the frame,it could also be broken here too

2006 Sonata brake lights don't work except rear deck light.

Check the connection at the brake light switch for power comming out to the barke lights, try feeding power to the brake lights manualy using a jumper wire from your fuse box or battery, unplug the wire from the switch and put power to the harness if everything is OK the brake lights will work, then you need a new switch.
