Sounds like its either low on power or the memory in it is to full to operate. To check the power issue does the unit run on built in batteries that need charged or is it a fixed ac power unit that plugs into the wall? If it plugs into the wall ensure the plug os securly connected both to the unit and inyo the wall receptacle too. If its a built in re-chargeable unit plug your charger into it for at least 6 hours and then try using the unit again if it doesnt shut down this time it was a low battery; however if it still shuts down try removing 3 -4 of the longer or bigger music files from it and then try using it again and see if it shuts down. Hopefully this will help somehow.

this happened to me wen i first got mine, so what in the manual the mp3 will need at 4 hours at first to be charged fully, when u charge it flip the on/off switch ON, n let it sit as long as you can. thats the only way it will charge, the reason why it keeps turning off is becuz its on low battery

Have you checked the settings? There's one in there for auto-shutoff. I had this happen and it turned out I had accidentally changed this setting.
