Question about Razor E300s Electric Scooter With Seat

1 Answer

My E300 runs for 15 minutes get's slow rests then runs again what wrong???

I bought two E300s about a year ago. I already replaced the batteries once. I replaced the motor in one and it ran very slow. The problem I was having was it would run for 15 minutes and then would get very slow. It suppose to run for 40 minutes continous. I called razor said it was batteries replaced them. MOtor replaced still can't get it to run for 40. But it I let it rest for half and hour with out charging is runs fast again for another 15 minutes. What is wrong wit it????

You have to make sure that the batteries are still good.
Take a volt meter and read the levels that the batteries are producing. If the levels are too low, then your batteries may have sat, unused, for too long. SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries will generally lose their charge holding capabilities if you leave them in storage for too long without charging them.

YOu can get replacement batteries at this online Electric Scooter Parts Store:

You can diagnose your scooter's issues with a volt meter.

test the batteries and make sure that they are putting out sufficient voltage/amperage.

Test the Throttle to see if the regulator is working smoothly.

Test the Controller to ensure that it is working properly, as this is the scooter's "brain".

Check the fuse(s) to ensure that you are connected, and also check wiring for broken, shredded, or burnt wires.

Most likely you need new batteries. If you leave SLA batteries in storage for too long, without use, the batteries lose their charge holding capabilities. SLA batteries hold a charge through a chemical reaction in the Acid Liquid in the batteries. If the chemical reaction settles, the batteries will not accept a charge anymore.

Generally, you don't want to leave SLA battery powered scooters unused for much longer than 3 weeks. :)

I had the same experience after lending my Porter Cable sander to a neighbor. In my case, he ran the machine too hard and pretty much burned the motor up. What it sounds like to me in your case is that the motor is defective, and likely needs replaced or rewound.

When i charge my e300s for 8 hours and plus. And when i ride it the battery goes back to low in 2 mins pls help.

Hi and Welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. You did not mention the age of this scooter or an estimate of the hours it was used. This sounds like the plates in the battery have deteriorated to the point that the battery must be replaced. Old batteries will self discharge do to corrosion or multiple re-charge residue that causes internal battery plate shorts or there is no longer enough plate material to provide the amperage necessary to operate your scooters motor. The only remedy is to replace the battery. If it is relatively new... then there can be a short in the chassis wiring. I doubt there is a short in the wiring as the controls seem to be functioning normally per your comments.

I have over 40 years of real world battery experience autos, aircraft, battery packs et al. This just sounds like the battery life has been reached and the battery needs replaced.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Runs very slow speed forward or reverse. full chg battery

you may need to fit a new battery or the drive motor has burnt out?
if the battery is over 3 years old its past its sell by date and if its been ran fully flat often or left flat that will shorten its life as well,,,
the battery is not to pricy,, you could try testing the motor by hooking up with "jump leads" a car battery just to check the motor is ok,,,

My shaver doesn't stay charged very long

The motor is fine, what happens is that the internal battery loses the ability to fully charge and run the motor for a long period of time. While you "could" change the battery out with a newer one using solder, it's unlikely that it would cost less than buying a newer model at the store or from ebay. The average life of good shavers made a few years ago was about 3-5 years due to the type of batteries in it. I used mine with a charging cord for a while but that became an issue once while traveling. I bought a new one.
