Television not going off standby to get channel

Channel memory of stored channels is contained in a Eprom which may be part of the microprocessor------voltage when set is shut off is often from either the standby supply or even a filter cap that holds sufficient charge to maintain voltage for the memory.

Look in those areas first.

An alternate way would be to go to a box and input signal to rear audio and video jacks---the box would then retain channel memory etc and this would bypass your issue.

May I know if the standby led light at the front panel is blinking, if so please count how many times it will flash to determine the error code? If not follow the steps below.

In standby mode press the button of the remote control in sequence, " Display ", " Channel 5 ", " Vol (-) ", " Power ". Self diagnosis screen will displays. Le me know the result.

There seem to be a problem that is why the television is not coming up and stays stuck on standby mode.

First try to turn on the television using the remote of the television and ensure that the battery of the remote is properly working, you can as well try to push the channel button on the television if the remote does not work.

If it does not come up both by using the remote and pushing the channel button, then it means it is a hardware problem, and that is from inside the unit of the television. Since the standby light comes up, it simply means power is reaching the main panel of the television.

This mainly used to be caused by a faulty or bad capacitor on either the main panel or the power panel of the television.

To check and fix, follow the steps below:

Your dram may hve codensation on it. leave the unit on standby or power on. The problem will go away.

Digital tv channels use analog carrier frequency of old system then changes to digital tv numbers later in the tuner memory. Leave tv on or standby at all times to have tuner set the digital tv numbers in its memory. You can reset the memory by pull the plug on the wall for 5 minutes then reconnect to the wall plug.

It seems just channel stored data issue.
Please perform Auto Preset / Auto Channel / Auto Tuning (mentioned menu items) and store all channels again.
Hope problem will resolve.

the tv is going in shutdown mode, is going to be power supply problem. check if your tv is under warranty because you will need a tv tech,

We are returning the tv to RCA and getting our money back.

sounds like a solder problem where the tuner attaches to the chassis. Or possibly a weak capacitor in the video circuit. If youd like a service manual for the set let me know . I know where to send you to get it for 10.99. Hope this helps
