I have just acquired a rental that has Vulcan gas heating. It apparently only works with a remote controller which has been lost. How do I replace it?

You have to recode the remote to the heater if the batteries have been removed for more than 3 minutes. On the comfort control will the remote is in a off state turn the heater off at the power.

While off press and hold the up button and the on/off until code appears then release buttons and turn the power back on to the heater.

When code disappears from the remote turn on the remote set the temp higher than current temp and combustion fan should start up then heater will fire up.

If not repeat process as they are easily corrupted by other remotes.

Set / check fan speed or it may overheat.
