Two things to try. Either unplug it or turn it off at the breaker.. Clean the cook top control area and allow it to dry overnight. You can turn the power back on after cleaning ideally. In the morning, with the power resumed just wipe the control area off with your bare clean hand.
I have no idea why this worked for me, but it did. Good luck. If that fails, you can look up error codes or schedule a repair.
had exactly the same thing happen; did you figure it out?
Would like to know if you had a big fee as won't bother if it is expensive to fix! Thanks Emma
There are two reasons for the lock to remain locked. One: the thermostat/wiring failed. This results in the oven's control still believing that the oven is too hot (over 450 degrees) and thus will not unlock. The other possible problem is that the unlock mechanism failed.
You can try to unlock the oven manually. (For some ranges, you can do this from the back of the range.) Please add a comment with the model of the oven/range for more assistance.
I hope this gets you started on solving the problem.
STRANGE THAT ALL YOUR VALVES WOULD GO BAD AT SAME TIME, I WOULD PERHAPS CHECK YOURKNOBS ( USUALLY THERE IS A SMALL METAL INSERT THE PRTECTS THE PLSCTICKNOB ITSELF, IT SOETIMES SLIPPS OF AND REMAINS ON THE VALVE STEM IF SO YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PUSH IT DOWN TO TURN IT ON, SIMPLY REMOVE THE INSERTS FORM THE STEMMS AND REINSERT THEM INTO THE KNOB IF THIS DOE INDEED SEEM TO BE THE ISSUE, OTHER THEN THAT REPLACING THE VALVES.
