Akai lct2715 power supply repair needed. Please respond. Failure appears to have occured over several days. First picture had distortion at edges. Then blue AKAI screen would light but picture was not in color and would not stabilize horizontally. Then I get flickeing light and speaker static. No picture. I have removed power supply. Need repair. Thank you.

I very highly doubt that is merely a power supply problem,I would suspect that it is a small signal board (aka scaler board) or at the very least,have the inverter boards checked

This series of TVs has a famous issue with the power board (part number MLT166A or similar). Several capacitors and zener diodes burn out causing some resistors to burn as well. If you are capable of doing component level repairs check capacitors on the board and zeners Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5 and resistors around them. If you prefer to spend hundred bucks and simply buy the working power board for it - ebay is your answer.
The power supply is defective if the TV fails to power up or the front light just blinks, common failure on these LCDs with MLT166A power supplies.

I charge $100 + return shipping. I do use high quality capacitors as replacements in all of my work. My turn around time is usually next day ship out from the day I receive the power supply and I have parts on hand to repair the unit. For him to have only replaced 3 resistors and charge you $269 is ridiculous. All be it I can say he would be justified in charging for in home service $200 for 3 resistors is just wow... I have not had a AKAI LCT2715 in my shop that had this issue but if I had I would probably start by checking out the power supply which not only provides power to the TV's main board but filters it and this if failing could cause other issues or even damage keeping in mind that this is a primary fail point on these TV's. My suggestion is to take it to a more reputable repair center and get a quote on repairs. These TV's are prone to power supply failure. I can fix the power supply on this TV for approx $100 +s/h.... Contact me and all you have to do is remove the power supply and send it to me and I will repair it with high quality parts. Reinstall and you TV will be good as new...
