I have an apple ipad air 2 and need to know how to disable the onscreen keyboard

Not sure what you actually want to do.

When the keyboard is up, look in its lower right corner.
Do you see a key with the icon of a keyboard on it ?
If so, tap the key. The keyboard should go into hiding.
To open it, start an app that requires typing, like email.
Tap in the an area for a message, where you would type.
The keyboard should appear.

Why does my keyboard keep dissappearing

The keyboard goes away once you are not in an edit field where text is accepted. If your keyboard failed to pop up automatically, usually tapping into a text field will cause it to come right up.

Tablet onscreen keyboard keeps reversing capslock.

Hi Melissa

When does this happen? Hitting Return/Enter/or the

key will generally throw this up. It is also noticeable on spreadsheets which jump to the next specified cell and automatically create a leading upper case character in the cell just used. These are operating system or program settings.

Try noting when this happens and then re-create it to be sure. Log the sequence to see if there are any keys which are involved (also the length of time or even just tapping a key or spot on the tablet surface can have a totally different meaning)

Hope this helps....

When coming out of standby mode the keyboard gets locked in the control/ alt delete mode.

Do you mean that you see the press Ctl-Alt-Delete to continue ?
This is the Windows lock screen.
You can disable this by going in Control Pannel -> Power Options -> And select " Dont require password on wake up"

My keyboard seems to have always pressed the shift key

Hi:

The most likely suspect is a bad keyboard, and they are not hard to change, and usually only cost about $15 or so on ebay. You might be able to temporarily use a USB external keyboard too, or the onscreen keyboard

TC1100 onscreen keyboard.

Use a USB keyboard and do a system restore.
Use a USB keyboard to access HP.com and search for a download there.
Use a USB keyboard to backup, reformat, reinstall factory image.Takes longer, but probably best overall fix, HDD may have a few bad sectors and format will fix or avoid them. May be a great time for a 7200 RPM drive and some more RAM! 2Gb RAM and a high speed drive will breathe a bunch of life into a great tablet like the tc1100.
