Blades won't disengage.

If this is a riding mower, then check the cable tension around the belt. I have a craftsman and when I take the deck off for the winter, there is cable under there that controls the blades from going. You can follow the cable down to the blades it usually is under the hood. When you are on the bottom have someone control the lever and see if it tightens and loosens the belt (do not have the mower running!). A axel should move to tighten the belt to turn the blades and when you pull the lever to stop the blades the axel should move to loosen the belt. Hope this helps. Oh from there the cable could be snapped, which is a 35 to 65 dollar part. Also could be the axel itself has something faulty where it doesn't move.

How do I change blades on Poulan riding mower

The trick is to block the blade so you can loosen the bolt in the middle of the blade. I use a chunk of wood several inches long and I place it in such a way that the blade will dig into the end of the block and the block doesn't move. The bolt size on mine is 9/16". You will likely need a breaker bar or a large ratchet, as it can be quite tough to remove.

You can also use a c-clamp to clamp a smaller block of wood to the inside of the deck for the blade to bite into.

The clippers are back together but are cutting the skin and still dont sound right did i put them together right.

Did you remove the comb and blade only? If so, the comb (the part that doesn't move and is closest to the skin) should extend beyond the reach of the blade (the part that does move left and right). Nicking is sometimes caused by excessive pressure against the skin. A properly adjusted blade will resemble someone with an underbite (extended lower jar) with the comb part extending beyond the blade.

Most clippers have a clatter adjustment screw. Turn this until the clipper clatters (buzzes really loud) and then adjust it back until the clatter stops (but not too far or you will lose power and the blade will stall or cut slowly). Be sure to oil the blades. Mineral oil (from a drugstore) will do if you can't get shaver oil.

Good luck from Detroit, MI
