According to the user manual, it overheated. You turn off the rice cooker. Allow it to cool 3 to 5 minutes. Then restart. It that doesn't fix it, call customer service at 800-276-6286.
Replace it.

You probably should bring it to a service center. since youve mention a span of time not using your cooker, the thermal capacitor may be busted.

The problem has been solved - the bottom cover of the rice cooker was unscrewed and pried off, and after removing the insulation, etc. the rice was removed.
