How can I de-register a Vtech T2326 handset and register it to a new base?

The "unplug battery" doesn't work, nor does the "*331734#[menu]" and "**335782" entry. With no selection of 'settings', the entry of "*7890#" fails also. ????

SOURCE: Not Registered

I had the same problem and this procedure fixes it! First, unplug the power to the main base (answering machine) for 20 seconds. Plus it back in. Put the phone that says "not registered" in the main answering machine. It will say "press the find handset for 4 seconds". Do that. It will run thru a series of stuff and will find the handset. It works! Rich (jambones.com)

were you ever able to register the additional handset? I have the same problem with 4 handsets, one broke and I bought 2 new vt2420 handsets. The unit wont register handset #3 (the one that broke). Would love to know if you were able to resolve the issue?

SOURCE: How to I reset the base for a Vtech VT-2431

This worked for me after lots of digging....If you have already tryed reregistering your handsets and can only get two-or three to work try this and deregister them and re-register. If your base model number is vt2431: Take the handset out of the base, press **335782 on the dial pad of the base. (do not have the line active or anything , just put the (2) stars and 335782 in (no spaces) on the base unit. This will de-register all of the handsets at one time.

Handset display says "Connecting" I can't deregister. How can I get the handset to display "not registered"?

The procedures to deregister are, of course, specific
to each make and model number of cordless phone.
All of them are a LOT more involved than simply
removing the battery.

For some AT&T, VTech, Uniden, & GE model numbers
you might try the following:
=====================================
For many AT&T models it is simple:
1. When the handset says "Connecting..."
enter *331734 [menu]
it will soon (chirp) and display "Not registered"
=====================================
For many VTech models it is a bit more involved:
1. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.
2. press [menu]
3. scroll up/down to "Settings"
4. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
5. if display reads "Test Base",
scroll to "Test Handset", press [select]
scroll to "next page", press [select]
6. scroll to "Register Clear?", press [select]
7. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
8. display reads "Ok" (chirps), press [ off ]

9. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover is off)
10. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover
11. display reads "Not Registered"
=====================================
For many Uniden models:
1. Press and hold the [END] and [ # ] keys at the
same time, after a few seconds the display reads
2. "System Reset, Deregister Handset"
3. scroll to "... Base Unavailable"
press [SELECT]
4. Handset (chirps)
press [END]
5. display reads "Not Registered, Place in base..." =====================================
For some GE models:
1. press "program[mute]"
2. scroll to "Handset Setup" press "program[mute]"
3. scroll to "Deregistration" press "program[mute]"
4. scroll to "Yes" press "program[mute]"
5. display reads "Not Registered"

=====================================
Once you have the handset displaying "Not Registered"
you can follow the User's Manual instructions to register
the handset.

The model number for your cordless phone is shown on
a small sticker underneath the battery in the handset --
enter this number at www.manualslib.com to get a free
copy of the User's Manual if you need it.

Good luck!

Can not register handset

The handset must be de-registered before it can be registered.
Try this:

1. To de-register the handset from another base:
When the orphaned handset says "Connecting..." or
"Out of Range..."
enter *331734 [menu]
and it will soon beep and display "Not registered"

2. To register the new handset to your base:
press the "Handset Locator" button on the base and hold
it until the "in use" light comes on ( ~ 4 seconds ),
then release the button and set the new handset into
the base phone cradle. After ~ 30 seconds it will beep
and display "Handset #" (next in sequence).

3: Note: the base handles a maximum of 12 handsets.

If your system was fully populated ( ie, a handset is
already # 12 ) you will have to clear all the handsets
from the base and re-register them all in sequence.
( it is the only way to 'rescue' the places occupied
by the lost handsets ).

To clear the base of all registrations:

1. Press and hold the the "Handset Locator" button
until the "in use" light lights and then starts to blink
( ~ 10 seconds ), release the button --
then press it again briefly while the "in use" light
is still blinking.

2. The base will beep and all handsets that were registered
will display "Not Registered"

3. Follow the instructions above for each handset
in turn to re-register them:
press "Handset Locator" ~ 4sec ( in-use light on ),
set handset into the base cradle, etc.

The manual is available from: www.manualslib.com
but does not fully describe these procedures.

Good luck !

At&T EL52300--one phone reads 'out of range-move closer to base.' I did--it doesn't help. Battery OK---What do I do?

It appears that the one handset has become orphaned and
must be de-registered and then re-registered.

and it will soon beep and display "Not registered"

Vtech cordless handset CS6209 will not connect with CS6229-2 base

Yes. The'old' handset must be de-registered from its
original base and then registered to your base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

Good luck !! --

Deregister cs-6629 handset

If your handset will not deregister, before registering it on a base. Here are the steps;

Menu/Select *7890#
It will display "Test Base" arrow up to "Test Handset"
Press Menu/Select It will display "SW Version"
Arrow up to "next page"
Menu/Select to display "Regstr Clear"
Menu/Select to display "Reg Clear?"
Menu/Select you should hear a beep.
Unplug battery and wait 10 seconds. Lug in battery and place phone in base to register it.
No other handset can be in use when you register new handsets.

Worked great for my 3 handsets that were registered to a base that went bad.

I have purchased a SL82318 Handset. I have a SL82318 system, with all three original handsets working perfectly. This fourth handset displays: "Connecting..." and nothing else. According to...

*331734#Menu Select on the handset should de-register that handset from the old base, then you can register it to the base as per the manual (put it in the base and hold down the handset locator button for 4 seconds)

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!
