Gigabyte GA-8VM800M 478 - On-board VGA as well as ASUS N6200 vid card

I have a Gigabyte GA-8VM800M socket 478.

I installed an ASUS N6200 AGP video card and this seems to automaticaly disable the on-board VGA.

How can I enable both at the same time to use a second monitor from the on-board VGA port.

I looked in BIOS, no options there. Have lastest drivers for all components, can't see any jumpers, nothing in nVidia control panel for on-board video, nothing on graphics card or bundled software.

Thanks for any help

Thanks, but I can't use the DVI as have an anolog LCD screen and the DVI on the card is digital only so that won't work. I am sure that I should be able to enable on-board VGA as well as the cards VGA port.

Hi,

You can download it from ASUS site. After searching it, I've found the link to download the driver for Win2K/WinXP:

How much memory can I install using windows vista 32 on a gigabyte ga-8vm800m. I know on Xp is only 2 Gig

Usually the limit is 3.12GB in any 32-bit Windows OS. In-order to achieve full 4GB recognition you should install a 64-bit version. Here you can read some more information.

THE PROBLEM IS AS FOLLOWS. MY MOTHERBOARD IS A GA-7ZX WITH VGA ON BOARD , BUT IN YOUR MANUALS , THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THE VGA ON BOARD, AS I SAID IT'S A GA-7ZX .fFOR ALL V ER. 1, 5.0 5,1 IS MENTIONED IN...

The motherboard manuals would be supplied by the manufacturer, in this case a company named Gigabyte, which is not a part of nor related in any way to FixYa.com website. The following is a link to the support page for this motherboard on the Gigabyte website:)

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1369

There are three revisions of this motherboard {1.x, 5.0 and 5.1} and NONE of them have onboard VGA. All use an add-in 4X AGP VGA card that goes into the brown slot at the top of the white PCI slots. You must provide your own video card if you received the board separately (outside of a system). If you received a full system the card may already be installed. you will have to physically remove that card (with the system off and unplugged first!) and look at any writing on it to determine the manufacturer brand and model of the video card. I assume you are asking so you can locate the correct drivers for the video display. If so, please repost the information on the video card along with the operating system you are using so we can help you locate the correct driver.

Gigabyte GA-8IE533 Motherboard

You need to replace the motherboard with the same board.

Let me give you the information about your board.

http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1393

You will need to replace the board with Socket 478, you also need to consider if your other components like your video card or ram will work with your new board if you didn't find a board with the same brand which is gigabyte.

How do I disable vga on ga-8vm800m?

During boot press DEL to get into standard BIOS settings, while in standard BIOS hold CTL key and press F1 this will alow hidden features to show in BIOS. Enter into Integrated Peripherals and you should now see a entry called INIT DISPLAY FIRST and you should be able to select between PCI Onboard and AGP (Depending on what you have installed). I have the same motherboard and had also upgraded to the 6200 which works great after finding the hidden BIOS features.
Hope this does the trick for you!

How to properly install Asus N6200 AGP video card

Set refresh to 60hz
Set color to highest position.
If this is an LCD, set it to the highest resolution
If this is a 15" or 17" CRT, set resolution to 1024x768.
If this is a 19" CRT, set resolution to 1280x1024.

Also, do not use the drivers on the CD. Go too nvidia.com and download the latest there.

Also, if you can get into the BIOS, try to disable the on board graphics if you see an option for it.

Problem with GA-8IK1100, AGP vga card can not display properly

Hi, is this a new card? I installed a simalar one in my computer [ a used card] only to find I had intermittent display. I found out later the card had been overclocked. A new card cured the problem. If this is a new card then return it for a warranty claim. Regards mistyman
