Try a universal remote to determine if it is your remote or you combos IR reciever.

retime the gears.

When putting in a video the VCR has a tendency eject the tape and then shuts off. Then there are times it works fine. What seems to be the problem?

Is there a VCR tape inside the unit? If there is a mechanical issue may cause your unit to auto protect and shut down.

every time i put tape inside vcr it keeps ejecting but every twenty attempts only it works without ejecting. please help
