Got the adapter working but will not mirror......everything shows on monitor except my mouse pointer

To access Mouse Properties, select Start - Control Panel - Hardware and Sound -Mouse.

Use Mouse Properties in Windows to customize settings for pointing devices, such as button configuration, click speed, and pointer options.

Replace the mouse with a new optical mouse.

Hi renee_pott, "You can choose the "Mouse Options" in the Control Panel.
First, click on the -> Start button -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse ->
Mouse Properties -> Pointer Options.
Try one 'or' more options:
* Snap To, place a (Check in the box) !
* Hide pointer while typing !
* Show location of pointer when I press the {CTRL key} !

• Usually the "Mouse" pointer by { Default }, is displayed during a slide presentation, and when the mouse is moved.
• " Try pressing the {Ctrl + H keys to "Hide" the mouse pointer}."
• Left-clicking on the "Mouse" button, will advance [forward] the slide show.
• Pressing Ctrl + A keys, will restore the "Mouse" pointer.

remove the battery from your notebook -- use the Ac adapter only

will the mouse pointer work ? are you using an attched wirelss mouse or the palmrest pointer ?

let me know what OS you use -- and if its mouse you use, what model ?

Restart the computer and press F8 key after you hear a beep or before it gives you the Windows logo on Startup. It will give you then the Advanced Startup Options.

You could try the option 'Last Known Good Configuration'.

You may also try Safe Mode option and do a System Restore. On Safe Mode, System Restore will automatically loads up at startup. You can then choose the date and time where you had it last working before.

If those can't be done, you may want to run scan file checker and fix system errors for you. Do this from Start> All Programs> Accessories> right click on Command Prompt. Then select Run as Administrator.

On the Command Prompt, enter sfc /scannow

That will automatically repair system files. However, it may ask for Windows Setup CD.

Some laptops have a touch pad between the keyboard and the edge of the laptop. This works like a mouse except you slide your finger around the pad to move the mouse pointer and the buttons next to the touch pad are the left and right buttons.
Other laptops have a small round button in the middle of the keyboard which is a mini joystick and it is used to move the mouse pointer around, it will have a couple of mouse buttons at the botom edge of the keyboard.
You can connect a normal mouse to your laptop, it is mush easier than using the laptop's touch pad or mini joystick.

It could be the hard drive going bad but it also could be a virus. I would formatt & do a clean OS install.

When I (USB) plug in my RCA Opal M4002A mp3 player into my "Office PC" it works fine, but when I plug it into my "Studio PC" the "Opal" screen shows "USB connected" and so does the "PC" with the "Device Connected Sound" but then the "Mouse Pointer" changes to the "Hour Glass" you hear the "System Notification Sound" then the "Mouse Pointer" changes back to the default "Arrow Pointer" and this back and forth action loops endlessly until I unplug it. I've tried everything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Quaal

ALSO I HAVE THE "RCA Opal M4002A" (2GB) mp3 player.
*** After much trial and error this FIXED my problem. ***
1 - First right mouse click on "My Computer".
2 - Left click on "Properties"- Left click on "Hardware"- Left click on "Device Manager".
3 - Now with one end of the USB cable plugged into your mp3 player, plug the other into your USB port. (Now when I did this a new "Portable Device" icon with an "MTP" Driver (sub icon) showed up in the "Devices List". (The "MTP" icon had an "!" on it, telling my it wasn't working properly. I then did this.
4 - Right click on "MTP" driver icon, then ...
5 - Left click on "Update Driver". (I was then given two choices. The top one was the faulty "Portable Device" driver which I had done everything I could to fix, but nothing worked. So I then did this ...
6 - Left click on the "Mass Storage" Driver (the second choice below it in the list), I then clicked "OK". The "Updating Driver" screen showed for a moment. The "Portable Device / MTP Driver(!)" icon vanished from the "Device Manager" devices list, But the looping STOPPED!!! My Opal was working beautifully and showing in my "Root Directory" as Drive j: and in "Device Manager" under "Disk Drives" as "Thomson Opal USB Device".
P.S. For some reason the file transfers are noticeably faster now. Good Luck, Quaal

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.
