My Yaesu Ft-857 transmits ok on 2 meter. But the receive only work sometime?

Sounds like a bad receiver in the radio.
Have you checked the VSWR of you antenna system?
Did it ever work with the current setup?
If so has anything changed with the programming of the radio or the antenna system?
Does 70cm work OK?
Are you sure menu item 080 is set to "SQL" and not "RF-GAIN"?
Are you sure the receiver is not programmed for tone squelch?
Either of those settings could cause receive problems if not used properly.

Why does the unit does not seam to work on SSB?

Since everything else works then is it USB or LSB or both? Did you check the power output when your in SSB and if there isn't any you can expect the drive transistors. Try putting the radio into the RTTY or CW mode and see if there is any power output when you key the mike PTT.

Good luck,

Why does the unit does not seam to work on SSB?

Did you try LSB? If that works then you have problems that will have to be repaired by Icom.

I lost the top radial of a Comet antenna model CA-2X4SRB in a carwash - I think. IS THERE A REPLACEMENT for it? Is there a replacement available?

You can easily make your own. I doubt Comet will sell you a replacement. But go to a local cb shop, or ham, radio related place an get yourself a wire to put in socket or mast. I cut down a cb wire antenna an took out the set screw an used my meter to cut it to proper length. Easily done.

How do I re-program my Yaesu FTC-1143 to the Ameatur 70m Band

Hi Rick,

If I'm not Wrong, You have the UHF Model radio, and therefore can't program VHF frequencies as it's the wrong band. If I am wrong, then you have a dual band radio, which should be pre-programmed with all the correct frequencies for both 2m & 70cm bands.

I hope this answers your query.

Cheers,
Peter

INTERCHANGE MODULE

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you are talking about the band modules, right? If so it will accept some in the 6m,2m,and a couple of the 70cm bands. The model numbers I know it will accept are as follows: FEX-767-2,-6,-70A and -70B. If your module is one of these they are interchangeable. BTW, all of these modules are presently discontinued I'm sorry to say. Hope this helps!
