SOURCE: American Standard toilet constantly runs

The rubber cork thst lifts when you press the handle is leaking by and causes the water level to drop below shut off level so it trys to maintain the the shut off level every minute or so. Replace the cork with one made with the red rubber. good luck

SOURCE: hole in back of toilet (stool) leaks water.

The hole your refering to is common in the manufacturing of toilets and is generally filled before it leaves the manufacturing. I have repaired several toilets, new toilets, all American Standard, using a good grade of epoxy - not silicone. I used West System epoxy as this is made for marine projects and surprisingly states "toilet repair" as one of the uses of their product. I'd suggest carefully chipping the smooth porcelan around the hole to give the epoxy something to grip. Use a knife or screwdriver to gently chip the edges and make sure the area is dry. Press the epoxy into the hole and give it enough time to cure before putting it back in service. Of course, if the toilet is less than a month old I suggest returning it and getting a new toilet.

SOURCE: Toilets are refilling between flushes

Replace the flappers, and clean around the flapper seat.

Make sure the water level is 1/2 " below the large vertical tube by either bending the float rod down or adjust the skinny silver rod on a Fluidmaster unit.

SOURCE: hole in back of toilet (stool) leaks water.

Mine don't leak but the toilet suffered from the lazy flush until I found the hole and covered it with masking tape.

Ever since I had This American Standard Williamburg shower control valve I get a terrible water hammer at comfort tempetures. My friend the plumber who installed it pulled the Pressure balance valve out...

NO DONT replace anything > You have what id call water hammer. This happends when water gets in the air chambers, Air chambers are nothing more than a 1 foot or 2 foot long section of pipe with a cap on it. When its working air gets trapped in the pipe and you can compress air but not water, so if the air is gone BANG BANG goes the pipe.

takes 10 mins to fix. turn off the water to the house out side. open every faucet in the house and the hose fauects out side. wait 5 mins and then close everything and turn on the water. You will see ait come out of the faucets it will stop after just a momnet or two.

That should do it. check your tub shower valve and it will work fine

Thanks for asking us to help

Hope this worked for you Tom

Problem: water tank running water and refilling itself

probably the flapper valve is not seating correctly over the outlet. you can fix it by reaching in and twisting the valve one way or the other till it seats properly and the leak will stop.

I have an american standard single control faucet. I realized water was leaking down the pipes. When i turned of the hot water valve, water stopped leaking. How do i go about fixing this.

Chances are your supply line is leaking. One of three things (easy fixes).
1) There is a "packing nut" on the shut off which holds the handle on - this could be leaking (just tighten with pliers while open).
2) There is a nut directly above the shut off (3/8 inch) which goes directly to the faucet. Simply thighten this nut.
3) There is yet another nut above the last (very near the faucet). This is a 5/8 nut and you will most likely need a "crescent wrench" to tighten this as you cannot get pliers up there. You can purchase a crescent wrench at any hardware store for about 10 bucks. Good luck!

I have an american standard air tub and cannot get the air jets to shut off.  They turn off, but come back on automatically a short time later.  How do I shut the power off?

Check the air vacuum switch and line as you may have a air vacuum leak. The button that controls the on and off to the jets is an air vacuum switch....It may have a slow air leak in the line or connections that is activating the on and off control
