Overlocker u2345

Be sure you are unscrewing the needle screw sufficiently to allow the needle base to fit (be careful to not drop the screw as it is very small and will have a tendency to disappear!).

Also, most overlockers come with a needle installing tool which is basically the cleaning brush with a small hole drilled through handle where the needle point is held during installation. Makes it easier to get the needle into the little hole in the needlebar.

Also, be sure the flat side of the needle is facing the correct direction.

How do I remove the top on a Bernina 807 in order to chnage th elong belt ?

V-Belt replacement 801/801 Up Machines

Only the belt cover needs to be removed for this belt change. This is done by removing the three screws on the end/belt cover. Loosen the 5mm Allen socket head screw below the step pulley to relieve the belt tension. Remove the lower motor belt. Lift the step pulley and slide off the hand-wheel, (assuming that you have already removed the release knob and clutch ring).

Additional top cover removals 807/801 Minimatic machines

Early 807 machines had two expansion nipples in the top cover that fit into receptor holes in the upper arm frame. Simply pull up the top cover.

Very late models may have a push button latch mechanism, same as on the 801 machines except those fitted with carrying handles, i.e. 801 Sport, 810 machines.

This is accessed by opening the light cover and finding an aluminum knob in the upper left hand corner of the upper arm frame. Push this in and the cover will release. Lift off the top cover.

Old kenmore runs at choppy when trying to sew

Lubricate the machine. All metal against metal places. This should allow the machine to run smoother. This is an older machine and may need to be run full speed for a while to let it break free.

Loose end cap cover.

Hi,

This actually applies to most of the newer Pfaff machine models:
  1. If the cover will come completely off, look at the inside of it to make sure the bracket that holds it in place is not broken. If it's not broken...
  2. Grab a flashlight
  3. Remove the stitch lid - there are little silver clips at the base of the lid on either side - push the lid either to the left or right against these clips and you'll be able to pop it right off. You will reverse procedure to put it back on. Removing the lid isn't absolutely necessary but does make it easier to see/access screw.
  4. Raise the handle of the machine
  5. Aim your flashlight into the machine behind the left side of the handle... you should be able to see down inside the machine to the set-screw that holds the side cover in place
  6. Check to see what kind of screwdriver you need - either a Phillips head or a Torx Driver. Most of the newer Pfaff models require a Torx Driver (this is a star-shaped screw-driver available at most hardware stores - Size T25 should fit this particular screw)
  7. Slide cover back into place - may need to wiggle it a bit to get the bracket under the screw
  8. Tighten screw & you should be back in business
If the bracket on the inside of the cover is broken, this part will need to be replaced. Pfaff parts are only available through an authorized Pfaff dealer so your local dealer will need to order it for you.

Hope this helps - please don't hesitate to respond if you need further help or clarification.

Happy sewing,
Kim & Linnette
