Sony BRAVIA Fails to fully Power ON. TV shuts off when backlight should kick in, after logo lights and fades. 'standby' blinks 6 times.
The Sony TV Logo lights up, and appears to go through its usual power cycle. When the backlight should kick in,the TV 'clicks', and shuts off. The 'standby' light then proceeds to blink 6 times. I looked up the code, and it indicated an inverter board error.
Every so often, the TV with the old board would power on. I managed to do the Sony code, and pulled up the OSD screen. The TV would only power fully on and display an image before 'clicking' off.
I have a screenshot, that I can provide of Sony's on-screen readout.
I tried replacing the inverter board, with a used one I found on eBay. The TV worked for about an hour, and then died again. Same 'standby' 6 blinking light error code appears. Granted, this inverter board may also be bad, but based on that screenshot, could something else be wrong?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. 6 times blinking standby light indicates problem with Audio Section in tv Check AU 15V output of G2 (power supply) board then check AU board as it has sound processor and sound output ICs. If you are not familiar with electronics stuff repair then call local tv repairman to repair it for you. Thanks.
I am experiencing exactly the same problem. TV turns on but within 60 seconds the screen goes black and the red standby light blinks six times. Were you able to resolve this problem on your TV?

4 blinks on a Sony Bravia indicates a backlight/inverter (aka ballast) problem. These ballasts are regrettably only available with an entire LCD panel. :( You may perchance be able to find a parts outfitter online that scraps out TVs and have a used ballast.
Typical backlight problem on an LCD shows up as the screen lighting up for a second or two and going back off. The 4 blinks just confirms your problem.

13 blinks is backlight error.. can be 1 of 2 things, 1st bad inverter board (on left side panel looking from back) it has several plug ins to the panel as it supplies voltage to the backlights.2nd could be panel itself as backlights are built into it they can't be replaced. Inverter is probably around $200 +labor, panel= buy new tv... they are outrageously expensive. Good luck!
