Is this a flat bed scanner?? i'm guessing not. if its not you need to clean the thin strip of glass underneath the feed section of your scanner. use a clean soft cloth with some alcohol.

My camera has been working fine. Had it in my purse over the weekend, took it out to take pictures. When I turned it on, I have this cone shaped image in the middle of the screen that has a red line...

When you take one pic, this lines appears in the image? Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

Among the CCDs used in the affected products listed above, it has been confirmed that, especially under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, the internal wiring may come undone in some places.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode, which results in symptoms like the following in captured images.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details: Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

My Epson Perfection 1650 Photo scanner keeps producing scans that have a 3-4 inch bright panel vertically down the middle. The image is visible, but the outer thirds are quite darker than the middle...

Make sure all the scanning settings are correct first then set everything first before you preview image then hit scan.
make sure the size is correct drag the image on the prview screen make ths dotted lines frame your image then scan
remember you tell the machine what to do by setting it, if you dont the machine trys to do thevscan its self. Good luck, have fun

White line appears in the middle of the screen

please describe the issue better cause it doesn't make sense..are you saying that your screen background is black no matter of the picture you choose??or that the image of the monitor is just showing a black screen??in the case I sescribed ..if the operation system seams to work but you can not insert any pictures anymore on wallpaper and it is black ..and a genuine advantage program is inserted a banner in the tray system ..(right ) ..this is a case that yous windows is not genuine and the warrning was placed after you check it on a installation ...to get rid of it ...just make a search in the start for a file named..WgaLogon.dll ..and after you lcate it ...rename in by changing a letter in th emiddle (ex: WgaLogTon)..and restart the computer ..after this the functions will be right back ..insert another walpaper and go on ..
If you are talking about the image being just a white line in the middle and the rest is black like it is shut down..than the issue is caused by a condenser burned on the image board..you should have it checked and changed..

Black line on image

It's possible that the black lines you're experiencing are an internal image adjustment issue with the scanner itself. If the scanner glass is otherwise clean, try going to the Canon DR2050/2080 utilities installed as part of the set up of your scanner and running the Adjustment Tool - it asks you to place the "adjustment paper" in the scanner. The term, "adjustment paper," appears to mean anything which has an image or text on it. Be sure you clean the scanner first before running this utility. It will have you put the "adjustment paper" through twice, and that in turn should remove the black lines in your scans, as long as there is no dust on the scanner glass. Office Depot sells cleaner sheets for laser and inkjet printers which also work on faxes and scanners and which will clean the glass for you.

HP 5610 scanner won't save image

I just need to understand the exact issue. It sounds like you are able to successfully scan, see the preview of the scanned image, and you initially save it. Then, when you go to open the saved image, you don't see the image you scanned but rather a "line". You've saved the image in a number of different image formats, but there's no difference in the result. It saves the scanned image to the location you want to save it on your computer's hard drive (probably My Pictures if you're using a Windows operating system).

Not sure what you mean by a "line". Do you mean a vertical line, a horizontal line, a diagonal line or what? Also, is it just a solid black line on a white background? Is it the image you scanned compressed into a smaller vertical or horizontal space?

Have to tried scanning both text pages and graphic pages? There have been issues where a document with both text and pictures has been scanned but when the scanned image is viewed, only the text appears. The pictures don't make it. The description of this specific problem is at HP.com.

I take it you don't get any sort of error message associated with this problem. Unfortunately, I can't find your specific problem at HP.com beyond the link I posted in the above paragraph. If you can answer some of the questions I asked, it might help me provide a better solution.

Thanks.

Can't image it being anything but scan glass, if prints are fine, are you sure you cleaning scan glass(inside of where originals are fed)?

If so then scanner lamp faulty, but I've never come across it myself on this model.
