Problem with Canon A650 IS connection to PC

My Canon Powershot A650 IS can't be detected by my PC even if I installed and reinstalled the CD installer provided. There is always an error after the installation is finished and it says "the drivers for this device is not installed". How can I transfer my photos now?
My OS is Windows XP SP1.

Please help. Thanks.

You can download the driver here I've scanned and tested the driver with Avast! and AVG Security and there are no viruses or trojans detected, it's safe. Just click on the blue download button to access the download.

My computer used to automatically detect my camera and upload the pictures when I connected it, but now, nothing happens. Is there something I need to select on my camera to tell it to send the pictures...

In general, you may have installed software or even hardware which has taken over the USB connections and associations from your camera to your PC.

If you have the original software on CD or DVD, then use Device Manager to remove the camera's entry in the hardware device table, then remove the software associated with the camera.

Restart your PC and reverse the process, by reinstalling the camera's software as if you just purchased it, and follow all instructions.

When you have finished this exercise, it should all work the way it did when you first installed the camera.

Camera not detected

I understand that you installed to your PC the software CD you received with the camera. Does it written there, if it is supporting your OS ? In case it doesn't support your OS, go to Canon wed site and look for your camera's drivers supporting your OS and download it to your PC. Good luck!
