I plug the heater in the power light comes on but no ignition

  • vhuss1 Nov 18, 2007

I have a Dayton 3E218E that doesn't ignite. The coil gets red the motor comes on and kicks off after about 25 seconds.

Here goes......I have an All Pro forced air kerosene heater (20K BTU I think, can't remember exactly). Ran it for 8 minutes (total) when my air compressor kicked on (using the same outlet), blowing the heater fuse. All systems dead, of course. I replaced the fuse, now the heater begins to start (fan spools up, sounds like a jet engine starting), then before it comes "on line," it spools back down. Total time of operation is about 10 - 20 seconds. At that time, kerosene is dripping out the front of the "torpedo." I believe I am getting no spark, so my question is "Could the compressor surge have also taken out some component of the igniter before the fuse blew?" If so, any idea which component it could be (igniter, controller, etc.)? I intend to get into it, but want to be armed with some preliminary information, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Dave........in cold Michigan

Most parts for kero heaters are interchangable. go to desatech dot com for parts. check for a reset button for your heater. if no reset, does the fan run? your unit can use one of two ignition parts. a spark generator with a spark plug or a hot surface igniter. the unit uses a cad cell flame detector. you might need to replace this.

I have reddy pro 170 i plug it in , the fan & igniter comes on for 10 to 15 seconds then shuts off ,blew through fuel line and nozzle still same result, i do see fuel mist coming out nozzle ,i dont k

You must make sure the mist is not to close to the igniter . If it is it wont be misty enough to ignite. And make sure its in the path of the mist. If its new return it to the store.

I have an all pro 60,000 btu flex fuel heater. all pro went out business. i need a new igniter .... can anyone help me find this part ?

Try www.desatech.com. From the main page, click on kerosene heaters. Some igniters should be at the top of the page that comes up. See if one matches yours.

No heat

It is either the igniter or the limit. Their is a limit mounted
at the 12 o'clock position beside the igniter. If you look at this video you will see it. Well the base of it and 2 philliphead screws that hold it anyway. LOL

Check ot the video HERE

My reedy heater pro 110 blows fuel out the front but does not ignite and then shuts down

The Pro 110 comes in 2 different technologies. The true model (examples: R110, RHD110T, etc) designates which technology your heater has. Rather than ask for clarification I am posting links to Troubleshooting Tips for BOTH types. You must investigate to see if your heater is the Spark Plug technology or the HSI (glowbar) technology.

Troubleshooting greatly differs between the 2 types.

Reddy Heater will not ignite flame

Please answer the following questions. There are several folks on the board that can help but we need to know some vital information so we can get started. Answer these, if you can:
  1. Which Pro 110 do you have. We need the exact model number. Pro 110 is a series of heaters.
  2. Does the heater have a spark plug or a glowbar (HSI)?
  3. When the motor runs is it pumping fuel?
  4. When the motor runs is the spark plug firing (or glowbar glowing)?
