Question about Sewing Machines

Bobbin not working.

I bought this machine used and it worked find until I decided to change the bobbin. Bobbin thread is not coming up. Upper thread wraps around the bobbin. I was told I had the wrong bobbin and was sold the right one but I still lose the bobbin thread.

Thank you! I checked these things several times. When I still couldn't get it working properly I tried cleaning the bobbin area which didn't help and changing the needle which also didn't help. I then changed to a another spool of thread (different type) and it stitched fine. I never would have thought of it but didn't know what else to try. I thought you might like this information for future reference. Again, thank you very much for your help.

The symptoms sound like it could be the incorrect bobbin. Even if it is tiny bit different, it may not work properly. If it is not an authentic bobbin for your machine, but rather a clone from another source, it may not be suitable. Some machines are very finicky.

If it is in fact the correct bobbin, then there may be a problem with how the thread is wound on the bobbin or how the bobbin has been inserted and threaded in the bobbin case. Be sure the thread is wound very smoothly on the bobbin and that the thread does not extend beyond the outer edge of the bobbin or that no loose threads are poking out from the bobbin. Also verify that it is inserted (and turns the right direction) in the bobbin case and that the bobbin case is threaded properly.

What is happening when I sew and 3 threads come out of the bobbin? Or when it just freezes up and I can't get the needle to go up or down?

basically the problem comes from incorrect thread tensions
the main thread responsible is the needle thread as the tension is far too loose
tighten up that tension and it makes the needle on the up stroke pull the thread around the bobbin carrier and collects the bobbin thread and pulls it up to the material
with the needle thread too loose the needle thread is wrapped around the bobbin carrier again giving you the 3 threads ( 2 needle threads and 1 bobbin thread and the tangle jams the bobbin movement

Bobbin wraps around itself and jams up

You may have the wrong bobbin in the machine. If it sticks up out of the bobbin case the upper thread will wrap around it.
This would be for a top loading machine.
What model is it?

I am using my mother's Singer Futura 1000 machine - probably around 20 years old but has been little used until recently. The bobbin thread has started wrapping itself around the bobbin multiple

try changing the needle
check to make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take
up lever
it could also be a problem with the timing and the machine
would have to be checked by a technican

Top thread keeps getting wrapped around bobbin case on LX-3125

You should hold the end of the thread coming through the needle until the thread has grasped the bobbin thread.

Thread jams & wheel axel cannot turn

there are a couple of things that come to mind.
Bobbin:   wound with uneven tension.  Try taking the bobbin, rewind that thread onto another bobbin and wind slowly.  make sure the thread feeds onto the new bobbin evenly.
upper thread:  catching on something or not flowing off the spool easily.
you're doing well, sounds like you consulted the manual and used your noggin, hang in there and let me know if this doesn't help.  we can troubleshoot some more!

Upper thread wraps around bobbin mechanism, while sewing

IT PROBABLY IS THREADED INCORRECTLY. GO SLOWLY BY THE DIAPHRAGM AND MAKE SURE IT IS THREADED CORRECTLY. ALSO MAKE SURE SPOOL PIN HOLDERS ARE IN PLACE THAT HELPS TO GUIDE THE THREAD CORRECTLY.
