How can I stop an oil leak? - Honeywell HZ-709 Oil Filled Radiator Heater

oil leaks from underneath can come from front crank shaft seal --rear crank shaft seal --oil filter--sump gasket---power steering ---leaking rocker cover gaskets ---leaking oil pressure switch.--transmission seals. I suggest that you have the engine professionally cleaned and then put it on a hoist while running to see where the oil is from

could be crankshaft seal and oil pen gasket.

Stop leak probably wont fix a hole in the oil pan.

Hello....The first thing that you want to check..since you said the leak is in front is the area around the bottom of the crank shaft..If the oil is comming from there...This is where the main oil seal is for the crank shaft bearing...If no oil is comming from that area...you can breath a sigh of relief...There are a lot of stop leak products for everything from radiators to oil systems to transmissions...I'm not a big fan beacuse ...If it can stop a leak...it can stop the flow....The best cure for an oil pan leak is to drain the oil.....Drop the oil pan...replace the gasket...and if you do it right...you'll be good to go for a long time...PS.....don't forget to replace the oil....I hope this was helpful.....PEACE.....

chances of stop leak working on an oil leak are slim and none...you just need to clean the engine (or get someone to do it for you) so that you can tell where the leak is coming from-it might be as simple as a leaking oil sender unit, a leaking oil pan drain bolt or a valve cover, front or real main seal, or even the oil filter (not tight?)-don't waste time and money on voodoo, you need to find the leak and repair it.

You didn't give me much information. If it's not from the engine, the only other thing on the bike that has oil in it is either an oil line or the oil tank. Sportsters are notorious for developing a leak on the backside of the oil tank, If you take the battery out and look at the bracket that comes from the oil tank to the battery tray, you may find your leak.

If the oil tank is leaking, purchase a new tank. I saw one guy try to stop the leak by coating the tank with "Creme" fuel tank coating. It did stop the leak but after a while the heat from the oil turned the coating brittle and it chipped off and stopped up his oil pump.

It depends on where the oil is coming from.

Black oil indicates dirty/old oil.But to your leak, there are many leak stop products at your car store e.g. Autozone/Canadian tire namely Wynn's. Put a bottle in the crankcase and leave for 3000 miles, after that change your oil and filter.

I have used similar items in 3 cars and stopped the leaks.

yes and no, i wouldnt recomend it with aurora.. i had same leak from the oil pan and put in the bars and it stopped the leak for a couple weeks. after that it leaked the same as before. i would never use it again on any of my cars.. i had a friend put in new pan gasket and it stopped the leak... i believe this is pretty common with the aurora...is it 95?
