What parts are to be changed on my Sony BRAVIA KDL-46EX400 46 LCD TV when getting vertical lines on the screen?

Hi, I am having an issue with my Sony KDL-46EX400. Upon powering on, the system freezes and vertical lines appears on the screen. It is unresponsive to inputs from the remote and can only be turned off by pulling the plug. Can anyone advise as to what parts i should change?

If the line is present in all inputs and modes, there is a problem with the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel which is very expensive (usually around $1000+ for 40" Sony). Unless the TV in under warranty, it is usually around the same price for a new TV.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the response. The service company Sony recommended told me it was probably the screen, too, and they quoted $1000."

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. Ok after over a year i figured out it was the tcon board. Good luck getting finding one. The first one i ordered from shopjimmy was faulty, didn't realize until after the warranty so i ate the cost of it (honestly i thought that it was good and there was another thing wrong with the tv) so i said wtf and bought one last week from ebay. Thin vertical line runs across the top of screen on my Sony Bravia KDL-32L4000

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
Try the format, aspect buttons on the Box remote, if the line is there on every input and effect the TV menu your panel (screen) is bad.
A new panel would cost as much as a new TV.
