Start with simple things first. If using a hand mic, ground it as if it were hung up in a vehicle. Now look for the squelch knob, it likely does more than 1 thing. Try it all the way clockwise, then counter clockwise as you turn it on. Please let us know on your progress.

Loud squecking noise comes when steering
change the power steering fluid it should be changed around every 5 years or so. if its not been done in a long time the oil oil can become acidic so you may need to do this twice. there are videos on how to change the oil and flush the system, then use the recommended oil for your vehicle. if you still have a squeaking on steering after you may need a new pumps as the seals have gone on the internal seal and oil is bypassing round the pump.

replace the drive belt the back of the drive belt has to just a bit above the edges of the pulley or it will slip

Bring it back to the dealer, tell them they squeck. new belts should not squeck. Squeaking means they are too loose or have fluids on them. If they're not shiny, the're loose.

Sony Walkman WM-EX190 won't play tape when play button is locked into place? model WM-EX190, the tape can be FF (Fast forward) and reversed no problem, and can still be played when applying some pressure to play button, but when pushed and locked into place the tape stops completely. The gear that switches between capstans for FF and Reverse does get pushed down by a spring when in play, and a small lever comes up underneath it to contact it. I'm thinking it may be putting too much pressure onto the gear and stopping the tape, but I'm not sure. I've cleaned it with Isopropyl Alcohol, used tape speed adjuster, and checked the belt; all seems to be fine. Like I said it's just a guess.
