-If this happens on all DVDs, then this may need to be repaired (Bose will repair this for free if this is the case- they can test it too) -If this happens on some or most DVDs, you can try a firmware update. Call Bose at 800-367-4008 and tell them about this. Request the most recent software/firmware update disc.
If you haven't already, just try resetting this first. (unplug the power cord from the acoustimass module for about 30+ seconds and try again)
If this happens primarily on rentals or home-made dvds, an update will most likely fix the problem.

What is Bose 321 gsx video format?

The video formats are:

composite video (yellow phono/RCA) - 480i/576i [NTSC and PAL, respectively]

S-video video (black 4 pin din) - 480i/576i [NTSC and PAL, respectively]

Component (3x phono/RCA - Green Blue Red) - 480p NTSC only. Applies just to the DVD player output.

The 3-2-1 system has a couple of composite inputs, one s-video input, no (0) Component inputs. It has 1x composite output, 1x S-video output, 1x Component output.

The Bose system has very basic video handling capabilities. It will only pass through a signal in the same format as it is received. So, a composite signal in requires that the TV or display is hooked up with composite too. IOW, it won't up convert composite or S-video to component.

I burned an mp4 on to a disc but will not play on my 321 gsx sbose ystem Says unsupported format I used the nero smart startsmart program and tried to burn as a data and as a video

I check 321 gsx sbose system that you use to play the DVD and it claims that it supports CD-R, CD-RW, SACD, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD, CD, Video CD (NTSC, PAL). So make sure that the DVD that you burn the video onto should be compatible with your DVD player. And you can also refer to this post about burning mp4 with nero to make sure that you burn with right steps.

Our Bose 321 Entertainment System is only playing DVDs in black and white - no color at all.

Be sure that in the setup menu, you are selected for the correct output format (either component which is BLUE/RED/GREEN + audio or composit which is just YELLOW + audio. If that is correct, I would suggest a call to the BOSE technical support center.

Bose 321 System

its the format of the DVD as its written.
Nothing you can do but to have the DVD re-authored.
We had this problem with out wedding video. It runs fine on my computer but not in the Bose. We asked the videographer to reauthor the DVD explaining the problem and it works now.

Format unsupported

Format unsupported simply means the unit can not read the disc. The problem is either the disc or the player.

Contact Bose technical support if you are sure the discs are good. 800-367-4008
