Dell is running xp sp3 (It didn't work on sp2 either).
I disabled the microsoft forewall and it didn't work.
What do you mean by disabling wireless security? Do you mean getting into the router and disabling it there?
    TIA

disabled WEP in both the router and the inspiron.
    No change. Still won't connect.

Yes - that's what I mean. the reason is to see if there is any problem with the wireless encryption. If the Inspiron connects with disabled wireless security, we found the culprit and can take it from there.

    I have two questions:

Is your Dell Inspiron running WinXP as well?
Does this laptop connect when you disable wireless security?Come back here and let me know - I'm happy to help.

Netgear wireless wgr614 is configured and the ports wired connected and is working ok while wireless portion the laptop running vista says connection is limited and unable to browse

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .

Problems connecting my laptop to wireless router

Make sure that you do the setup via cable, not through wireless!
If you change form WPA to WEP, the length of the key changes and you will have to provide this new key if you want to connect wireless to your router.
You can leave your laptop connected via cable and check if your wireless card can connect.
No, you don't have to reinstall everything again. Just plug in the cable, connect to your router (192.168.x.x) and check your wireless setup.

Server not found} NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router doesn't connect me to the internet.

Dear Loud Nouises,

Your router must be connected properly to the cable modem. This must be to the wan port on the router.

Next, the router must be set-up accordingly to recognize the modem's internet connections. Please ask for the IP address.. and other relevant informations from your internet provider.

Set -up your computer using the internet connections wizard on each of your respective computer.

This should work fine if all connections were correctly configured.
