Cannot get the picture wide

Firstly you have not mentionrd thr Make & Model of your monitor.
Assuming it's a LCD Monitor you could try the following:

Modern monitors have a 'native resolution'. While most LCD monitors can display a wide variety of screen resolutions, the native resolution will always look best, since this is the screen resolution that matches the number of pixels inside the display. Any other screen resolution may look blocky or distorted, since the number of pixels used in the picture will not match the actual number in the display.

You can adjust your computers display resolution easily. For best results with your monitor, you should use the latest display drivers and monitor drivers and run your monitor in its native resolution. For more information on updating your display drivers, see this link.

Hi,

Your PC is not supporting the current resolution with the game, you need to upgrade the graphics driver or reinstall it. If still dont work change the resolution settings in the game, else change the graphics card.

What would cause Windows Media Player 11 to NOT display? It shows up in the taskbar, and audio is heard but it will not come up on the screen. No new programs have been loaded and I have done a complete...

This may happen as a result of having made a screen resolution change, especially from a large resolution to a smaller one. Other times, it's a glitch in the programming, though I haven't witnessed one in XP, Vista or better. Try switching to the highest resolution possible and set it. If you now see the Media Player window display, reduce its size to about half, and then reset the resolution to what it was before. Then close the Media player window and restart. It should open to the same exact size as the last time you used it.
Good luck!

1080p bush 42 inch tv only displaying 1366x768

1080p refers to the resolution you get when watching television. When you're using the TV as a computer monitor a different resolution scale applies. In other words, television resolution and computer resolution are measured differently.
