SOURCE: aftermarket stereo install

Was it working before?

I would hate to have you crack it open when maybe the ground wires arent hooked up right. Unless you have a scope go online and get the manual on wiring it to ensure you did it right.

SOURCE: clarion wiring db346mp rear speaker pins

Sounds like you are missing one of the leads. You will probably need a new harness OR try any local stores to see if you can find the same length pin that snaps in to place on the molex plug

SOURCE: my clarion cd player in my boat was working fine

Remove all the speaker wires.

Power the radio back on and verify it is not the radio at fault.

If it powers up, check the speakers with a Digital Multimeter set to OHMS 20x.

Each speaker should have a resistance of 4 ohms. (or 8 in some cases)

Any variance (+/- .5ohms) means the voicecoil is blown, and replace that speaker.

I bought a sony deck to replace the bose stock deck on my 1996 nissan maxima. I purchased the wiring harness and antena adapter also. I hooked everything up right and getting power but im not getting no...

each speaker in your car runs the wiring thru an amp. So each spkear has its own amp for the bose system. You can not hook up a none bose radio If you do you will need to run new wires and replace all the speakers. Sorry.

Factory subwoofer 2005 subaru, the after market head unit I got dont have the connectors for it.

try to get a "speakerwire to rca cable" connector. hook it into your back speaker wire and run your amp off of that. then hook the sub up to the amp as usual. without an amp, just splice into your closest speaker wire

Volume issues with clarion M309 installed on a boat

Hello jcox7704,

Your head unit is 50 watts X 4 channel maximum power and 21 watts RMS so it's possible that all you need is more power to the speakers. But even 21 watts RMS should be enough for normal speakers. Before investing in an amp, I'd check the speakers and their wiring. Measure the impedance (resistance) at the head unit side to see if they match up.

Hope this helps.

No volume

The Bose system in the Z is wired to control the entire car's speakers. Each speaker has its own amplifier, and the OEM head unit puts out a line-level signal to each amp. Your Clarion unit puts out speaker-level signal (in effect, an amplified signal), into the Bose amps, and it's probably overdriving them and putting them into shutdown.

Your best bet is to replace the Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers meant for a speaker-level drive (which is what I did in my Z, and never once regretted it). If you do so, you'll need to run new wires to the speakers, or if you use the OEM wiring, you'll need to unplug the amps and run the wires from the amp harnesses directly to the new speakers. I think there is an adapter harness you can use that will tap into the line-out jacks on your Clarion, so that a line-level signal can be sent to the Bose speakers - I'd do a google search for "Metra harness 300zx" or something along those lines (Metra makes the lineout harness adapters - I use one in my Audi).

No Sound

Id call you local stereo shop. I changed the head unit out in my old acura legend and had the same problem. You need to buy a special harness for the bose. Each speaker had its own amp, so i just rip it off and wired the speaker direct and trashed the amps. Now this was an older car and speakers were almost shot so no biggie. I would not recommend you doing that on and 04. Just call your local stereo shop and they should hook you up.
