Sounds like the Idler pulley has either broken (lost the tension on the belt) or the belt has slipped off the tensioner. Have a look at the YouTube video on this link for more details.

My kenmore dryer makes a loud rattling noise like it has belts with metal buckles tumbling around inside of it.

This happens when coins get inside the metal vanes that tumble the clothes inside the dyer. It can also happen if a belt wears off a strip of the belt that starts slapping the interior walls as it turns. A third way is for one or more of the the rear support rollers of the drum to become worn.
The first two causes can be checked by watching the first minute and 20 seconds to see how to raise the top of the machine. Be SURE to unplug the machine FIRST and not plug back in until FULLY assembled correctly.

Once top is raised turn tub very slowly clockwise (inspect belt for fraying as you turn) until screws show up that attach the inner vanes to the tub wall. Remove these screws to check the interior of the van inside the drum for foreign objects and remove. Complete one vane, reattach and move onto the next. If you don't find ANY objects in the vanes move on in the video to the 3 minute mark and you will see the 2 rear support rollers. Check them for wobbling or tightness and replace if necessary.

The Final Possibility could be a very wobbly idler pulley that needs to be replaced on the floor of the dryer. I have included a picture of the belt configuration if you need MORE disassembly than just the top.

Kenmore dryer will not turn on

Dryer seems to be protecting itself from error
is all packing materials out. Or is there clothes wrapt inside stopping drum from turning. It seems that there is some restrictions happening keeping dryer from being lose to do its job.
Maybe try to turn drum yourself and it should turn a bit hard cause of the belt to motor but it should turn well

Kenmore clothes dryer squeaks loud to get going

Sounds like a bearing or the drive belt. Try turning the empty drum by hand. If it sounds normal you probably just need to replace the belt. If it make strange sounds when you turn it by hand then its probably the bearing.

The belt isn't a big deal but a bearing probably is.

Dryer stooped working suddenly.

Replace the fan belt that turns the dryer drum. Use only the genuine replacement spare part for your dryer.

Kenmore Dryer Model #68202 just quit working. Set

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

Things that will cause a dryer to just up and stop are:

1. Door switch
2. Motor Switch
3. Belt switch

The first thing to check is the door...

a. Verify the door remains closed and that if you gently tug on the door that it does NOT make the door switch click. Things like the switch actuation post get worn and clothes being dried press against the door and can cause the dryer to stop.

The second thing to check is the drum.

a. Reach inside the dryer and push the drum in either direction. If it moves easily with little resistance (Belt not turning the motor as drum is moved) then the belt has broken and the belt saftey switch has been activated causing the dryer to appear dead in all aspects.

The last thing that can cause it to just stop is a failure of the motor or motor switch. (Least suspects at this time)

Also go to the main Circuit breaker panel and physically turn off the dryer 30A Circuit breakers by pushing them against the off position and then back to the on position. This resets the breaker completely

You did not mention the age of this Dryer yet at this time I suspect a broken belt has tripped the belt safety switch.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Just moved, dryer won't tumble with a load. Error code PF

Did it get tipped in the move? I don't know about the specific model of Maytag, but on my old Kenmore the belt that ran the drum also had a wheel and kind of like a pulley that it had to seated on in order for the belt to stay centered on the drum and turn properly.I don't know how you get the shell off the front to get at the drum, the Kenmore had screws that you had to take out and lift the control panel off and then back to get at the inside. Sorry

Dryer making loud clunking noise

Make sure the drum is not catching the back panel, and that the fan is not loose on the motor.
