I'm not sure about the above product number but on the unit it says Nuvi 260. We have a series of destinations to enter and it seem it would be easier to have the ability to do it from a PC. I have Garmin loaded on the PC but can't find any obvious way of doing this.

Question: How do I change the Voice Language setting on my nuvi 2xx?
-->
Answer:
All of the Garmin® automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts (example: Turn Right in 500 feet) as well as Text-to-Speech (TTS) voices that speak street names. If one of the basic types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names.
In order to change this setting on the nüvi® 2xx series, follow these steps:

You could try a master reset:

SOURCE: my garmin nuvi 260 will not go past the loading maps screen
There is a corrupt or missing file associated with the mapping thats causing it to lock up. When that file is missing, your Nuvi never gets to the routine for communicating with your PC. That's why your PC can't detect it.
I've fixed this problem before. The unit must be placed in PRE-BOOT mode, forcing Windows to recognize it and then using a specific program, reflash the firmware to an older version that doesn't care that the file is missing. The unit will then boot properly and you'll regain detection to the unit in Windows. Then you can repair/replace the missing files and then reflash back to the latest firmware.
Yes, its a pain and not an easy process to the novice.

with the garmin off, hold down the right bottom of the screen and turn the garmin on, it will then ask you if you want to perform a hard reset. Choose yes and that should fix your problem.

If the device does not power on it could be a result of a extremely low
battery. Please ensure that the device is receiving a charge while it is
connected to the vehicle power cable. If the battery is receiving power from
the vehicle power cable then the battery icon (located next to the time) would
disappear from the Main Menu.
If the unit does not power on while attached to the vehicle power cable
please follow steps from below to perform a soft reset:
The device should power on. Notes:
If
your GPS unit powers down before it can fully boot up, the battery will
need to be charged. Please charge the unit with the vehicle power
cable or on a computer for at least three hours. After charging the unit,
it should power on and function normally. If the unit will not charge in
the vehicle, check the fuse in the power cable for the unit and
the power outlet in the vehicle.
