NETGEAR AND UPNP

Yes your Router supports UpnP.
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wg602v3_manual.pdf
Here is the manual where I found the information. Once the manual is open ctrl+F will open a find window. In the find window enter UPnP and click enter on your keyboard. This will take you to the section explaining UPnp and how it works on your router.

Good Luck!!

I have strict nat type and would like to change the nat type to open for my ps3 gaming online experience to be better. myfriends have trouble connecting to me and i have the same vise versa.

You need to access your router and set uPnP to enabled.
to do this you have yo use your browser to access the router - the address for the router will be an Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Log into the router and select uPnP (usually on the security or advanced option)
if you let me know the make and model of your router I can give you more specific instructions.
If your router does not have a uPnP option (and this is very unlikely) again let me know and I can give you detail on port forwarding and how to do it.

How do i enable upnp

Using your Internet browser, you can access the Router's Web-Based Advanced User Interface. In your browser, type "192.168.2.1" (do not type in anything else such as "http://" or "www"). Then press the "Enter" key.
Click login, the router comes with no password set, so unless you have changed the password, just click login.
To take advantage of the UPnP features, you can enable the UPnP feature. Simply select "Enable" in the "UPnP Enabling" section of the "Utilities" page. Click "Apply Changes" to save the change.

Linksys wrt54gs changing upnp settings

Hi, you can enable UPnP on a Linksys WRT54GS router by logging in and then clicking on the Administration tab. The first sub-tab is Management, and at the bottom of that page there are buttons to enable or disable UPnP. Click Enable and then click Save Settings at the bottom of the screen.

I have a netgear wgr614 router and can't get my ps3 to play online.(upnp is not available)

Most routers have a menu you can access.
There you must forward your ports.
You must find out what ports ps3 uses and put them into your gaming ports.
Depending on your router settings you may need to do specific assignments.
This should get you going.
Xbox requires me to have the proper internet settings to access my router.
Portforward.com helps noobs to forward ports on your router by use of your computer. Once they are open, your UPnp will be set.
It may seem hard, but once you give it a shot, you will be happy.

Dynex-e402 change nat settings to access x-box live

Dynex DX-E402 router, changing NAT settings(UPnP) to access x-box live. go to router settings web page for router, http://192.168.1.1/, enter user name and password to access settings page. user id is usually admin this also for password. under advanced settings click on forwarding. In listed sub-catagories click on UPnp. click enable. this should solve any NAT issues with X-box 360 signing onto x-box live. dynex dx-e402 was very easy to setup.

PRoblem with download not compter

1 UPnP = Universal Plug-N-Play

The UPnP architecture77 allows
peer-to-peer78 networking of PCs79,
networked appliances80, and wireless81 devices.
It is a distributed, open architecture based on established standards such as TCP/IP82, UDP83, HTTP84 and XML85.

Basically if you are trying to download something and it's having a problem with UPnP, you might be able to solve that by going into your Routers menu
It's usually something like 192.168.0.1
typed into the address bar of IE or FireFox, etc.

You would be best finding your Router/Modem's Documentation to access it's menu if you don't know how.

But as I said, you can usually access it like above, the default user name is ADMIN
Password is either left blank or is "password" (w/o quotes)

If you want to look up your router/wireless Internet modem
Use this link and look up your model
(It's about forwarding ports, but you just follow the directions on how to access your models menu)

ROUTER GUIDES

I have a link for you to a tool that will scan for your UPnP capable devices and give you information
It will also give you a better idea about UPnP:

FREE UPnP TESTER LINK

Description:
"UPnP Tester is an experimental tool which lists all the available devices compatible with the Universal Plug-and-Play protocol including Internet Gateway Devices (IGDs). As soon as the program starts, it searches for available devices then it updates the list as devices are plugged or unplugged. The status window displays miscellaneous notifications and the IP addresses as they are assigned."
..

I think between these two things you will be able to activate UPnP or see what devices have the option and if it is active or not

Finally, if you want to read the whole long explanation of what UPnP is 'technically; here:

UPnP Defined

But for your purposes, I think you can just cut to the chase with the two options above.

Whew, I think I need to rest my typing fingers ;-)
Good Luck & write me if you need
