TV has vertical lines all over the screen. Sometimes I get the image back but very rarely. Still have sound going through. Is it a bad Tcon or bad connection?
I re-did the connections from the Tcon and the image was good for about 3 days. Now it's back to the vertical lines and very rarely image would be good.I re-did the connections from the Tcon and the image was good for about 3 days. Check for bad connections first by plugging and unplugging all various times to remove any oxidation or corrosion. If still no go, then the anomaly is caused by the T con board.

U have an intermittent situation on the board that appears a bit after it is plugged in. Afraid the board will have to be replaced.U have an intermittent situation on the board that appears a bit after it is plugged in. Afraid the board will have to be replaced.

please run a channel scan on your tv before checking for the issue again. If the issue persists, please remove all accessories from the tv before restarting it. If necessary, you can then power cycle the tv. Otherwise, you can move onto running a factory reset on your Sony tv.
Please double check that the vertical lines are present across all channels. If so, you might attempt a factory reset of the tv to attempt to remove the vertical lines. If this does not work, please shutdown your tv for 10 minutes (including unplugging the power cord) and then turn the tv back on and check for the lines.
The screen and the LCD are broken and are going bad and should be replaced for your TV and the ribbon might also be damaged too and needing to be replaced.
When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.
A black screen could just be a sign that the TV is turned off, although if it is producing sound then you know that's not the case. When your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's quite possible it could actually be your external device and not your TV.
OMG..why so many bad answers on here all a sudden ...Chances are you have a bad Tcon board or its possible it could be the main as well however tcons fail way more than main boards with your issue, vertical lines means bad tcon, horizontal can mean a bad display...I can count on one hand the times Ive had a bad display with vertical lines and Ive serviced thousands of HD TV's over the years...but what I want you to do 1st is remove the LVDS cable that goes from the main board to the tcon board, clean the contacts and replace it...then do the same to the two flat panel ribbons that go from the tcon board to the panel, its not real common but on occasion they will loose connection and give vertical lines, don't want you to buy a board if cleaning the cable connections will help...just use a little rubbing alcohol to clean them...Good luck, if you need more help feel free to message me back.
Its probably a bad ribbon cable on that side of the tv. if u put pressure on that side ( on the plastic) it may resovle the issue. otherwise it could be a bad tcon board and the tcon board would need to be replaced.
This may be due to a faulty Timing Control board (TCON board). I had a similar problem with my Samsung LCD TV picture being split vertically down the middle. The image on both halves appeared fuzzy and in reverse (mirror) including the menus. I replaced the TCON board and the problem was resolved.
I re-did the connections from the Tcon and the image was good for about 3 days. Now it's back to the vertical lines and very rarely image would be good.
