Bad news, most every universal remote is for tv, vcr, dvd, cable box, and nothing else. you can goto sony.com or check ebay for a new one.

OK...Press and hold the clear tv button on the upper left hand portion of your dish remote until all of the mode lights illuminate. When illuminated, release and clear tv button would flash. Press 500 followed by the pound key and the clear tv button would flash 3 times. Try to press now the red tv button to power off the tv, and try the volume and mute buttons to. Before changing the channels, press the SAT button to set it on satellite mode. Now try all of the functions....

If you consult the card that came with the remote, you will find several codes for "Sony". You will need to experiment with each code until you find one that will power the receiver on and off. Then you will have control of the receiver. If you don't have the card, then go to the web site and download a copy in PDF format from there. I have a lot of Sony stuff, and I have found that the codes varry according to the year the equipment was made and its function.
