DS 27880. Foldover Problem on Statrup. Is capacitor replacement not a logical fix as I have repaired many TV,S with foldover with Cap Replacement?

I have no schematic and have only solder iron and multimeter. Was hoping that someone had a schematic of this chassis # 27780-01 that had repaired exact problem? Does not a bad capacitor sound like a logical fix as I have fixed foldover on quite a few sets with capacitor replacement. The problem goes away within 1-2 minutes and doesnt appear till next time TV is turned on? Outside of that it works perfect. Rocco

SOURCE: Polaroid 37 in LCD TV

There is not a good solution. If you read about the Polaroid 37" LCD HDTV, you have a problem and it's the same one that many of us have. According to Polaroid's service center, the control box needs to be replaced. Polaroid does not stand by this product. The company gives you a lot of lip service about how many they sell and how few problems they have - they're lying. The TV's should be recalled and I'd suggest you join many of us to demand it. Write BBB, write the company where you bought the TV, write any consumer group you can think of - Polaroid TV's are junk. Sorry you've got one. Sounded like a good deal and Polaroid used to manufacture quality - no more.

The kit conbtains the replacement capacitors and the info on which board and capacitors that need replacement and also includes the service manual for the TV on CD. You can get the repair kit at the following link its under the repair kit category

SOURCE: Hitachi 53SWX12B: Sound goes out for a while, then comes back on

I have the same problem with mine, I can also do the ol Fonzy hit it on the side and the sound will come back on. I have re-soldered many bad looking solder joints and I have finally tracked it down to a part # LSK1aF-5v it is located on the board that the main power plugs into at the very back behind a large transformer. The part can be found at parts.o2xygen.com/parts/l/46.html .

SOURCE: Samsung model LNT5271f excessive relay cycling before full power

Howdy,
Yes, it is very easy to repair. Solder iron wattage should be at least 300 w.

The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove the shield that covers the Boards and remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

White lines at the top of my jvc, av-32230

Problem is in the vertical circuit of the set= lines at top and or some foldover----either the output chip and or a filter cap connected to the chip.

May or may not be a do it yourself repair depending on what skills you have at fixing TV sets===not an adjustment etc.

Lines at top of screen, about 4"

Hi:
This is due to vertical deflecton problem, there is some capacitors that has gone bad and need replacing. It might just be one cap rated at 100uf 35 volts. This is called vertical foldover eventually the top will fold over or you will get a 4" black border on the top of the scrn.

Two inches at top is black

That's called vertical foldover - you need a new vertical output sweep capacitor. Might be worth tossing and replacing.

I have vertical shifted up from bottom and foldover from top down

This is caused by a defective capacitor in the vertical circuit. If you can solder, you should be able to fix this your self. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I will supply additional details and instructions.

Vertical foldover

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, on most TVs, your described issue indicates that the Pump Up capacitor has slowly leaked and/or nearing end of life (dried up). This capacitor would be located very very near the Vertical Deflection IC and would be the biggest of the bunch of capacitor within that immediate area.

Rather an inexpensive component, should not take a couple of minutes to replace. What would be more challenging is identifying/locating it and getting access to the solder joints underneath the PCB (printed circuit board). Should look like image below (not necessarily same value/specs).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

DS25390 Verticle foldover

If you have a picture but the top is folded over, your vertical IC is probably good and you need to replace the pump-up capacitor next to the IC. When the pump-up cap (typically a 47 or 100uF 35V cap) is open then the picture will have white lines and foldover at the top. The typical vertical output IC is the LA7838, but I am not familiar with exactly which output IC your set uses.
