Transmission shudders at low speeds

Transmission shudders but does not make noise. Only happens at low speeds and goes away when I let off gas. Happens most every time I drive.

Year make and model? Mileage would be helpful also. Many things in a transmission can cause a shudder. Diagnostics, only at take off, low speeds, high speeds, At every shift, only in forward or reverse, or a specific gear. Some are a ten minute fix. Some will cost $2000+ a rebuild.

Torke converter needs to be replaced. Before you do that check the mounts.

Humming sound when cold and at higher speeds

I would suspect a loose baffle in the exhaust system. Once I put an overhead rack on my F250 and when going down the road at a certain speed the air rushing between the overhead bar and the truck cab caused low hum.
When the noise starts ,and it is safe, put the transmission in N and see if it goes away. I have also shut my engine off while driving to see if a noise goes away. Usually it is a vibration problem.

Steering shudders when turning at low speeds

Hi,
Please check you power steering fluid. It should be described in the owner's manual if you're not familiar.

1998 Honda CR-V makes low pitched shuddering or growling noise intermittently when turning sharp right or left at very low speeds.

YOU should find that if you let off the turn a bit and not turn on hard full lock,, now do this stopped and someone sitting in the drivers seat and bonnet open and turning the steering wheel with engine running in idle
if the noise goes and the shuddering goes then its the powered steering pump is either low in fluid or airrating or if belt driven then see if belt is trying to stop on full lock and if it is then try a new belt or other wise its the pump faulty.

There is a humming sound coming from the front end of my 1999 oldmobile alero. Only happens when the car is moving. I dont hear itat idle or even when pushing the gas at idle. could it be my transmission...

Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. Hope this information helps!

Shuddering uphill

How full was the gas tank? Maybe the tank was low and gas sloshed away from fuel pump pick up tube. Try shifting out of overdrive when going up hills, you might be lugging the engine at too slow of speed ( running at too low of RPM's compared to where engine makes it's peak torque, mixed with it being a heavy SUV can cause chugging or shuddering).

2003 Expedition jerking/cutting out.

Had same problem: cutting out at low rpm, jerking, a huge clunk or shudder at higher speed (like transmission was going out), and rough idle. All these symptoms were intermittent.

CHECK THE FUEL FILTER!! Changed the fuel filter and thing runs fine!!

PS mine 2003 expedition has 105k
