The auto mode means that the cooker will start off at high and then will switch to low after an alloted amount of time.

HOW TO USE AUTO SETTING

It looks rather like my slow cooker which has a 3 position switch with LOW, HIGH and AUTO.
AUTO uses a thermostat control to prevent the contents from boiling. Useful if being left unwatched. HIGH setting can cause burning if contents not stirred, and LOW setting is only of use to keep things warm. Hope that helped.

I have Ronson slow cooker with no manual, it has settings 1,2 qnd auto. Which is high and low, and what does auto setting do>

I also have a Ronson slow cooker.

Instructions from the book read as follows:
- On setting 1 (low), the slow cooker can operate all day and night if required.
- When set to 2 (high), it is very much like a covered pot on the stove. Foods will cook in half the time required for 1 (low).
- When set to auto, the slow cooker will cook on 2 (high) until the food reaches a pre-set temperature, then switches to 1 (low) and maintains a constant slow cooking temperature. Auto is the ideal setting for someone leaving the house for the whole day as most food will cook for 8-9 hours and be ready to serve when they return.

I always use the auto setting, unless I don't have as much time, and will then use setting 2.

Ronson slow cooker settings

Hi. I'm a Ronson Service Centre in Australia.

I grabbled this blurb from a Ronson Slow Cooker Manual.

On Setting 1 (Low) the Slow Cooker can operate all day and night if required.
When set to 2 (High) it is very much like a covered pot on the stove. Foods will cook in ½ the time required for 1 (Low)
When set to Auto, the Slow Cooker will cook on 2 until the food reaches a pre-set temperature, then switches to 1 and maintains a constant slow cooking temperature.
“Auto” is the ideal setting for someone leaving the house for the whole day as most food will cook for 8-9 hours and be ready to serve when they return.

No manual for my old Crock Watcher by Proctor Silex

The auto setting cooks on high for the first hour, then adjusts the setting to low for the remaining cooking time.
Auto Shift allows the slow cooker to heat up to high and then internally shift down to low, so it gives more flexibility in cooking time. Example: A certain recipe may take 4 hours on high, 5-6 hours on Auto Shift and 7-8 hours on Low.

Lost Manual - not sure which is high or low

Hi. I'm a Ronson Service Centre.

If you choose the auto selection the slow cooker will cook for three hours on high then will automatically reduce to the low setting.

What is the function of both the Auto and the High setting on the cooker?

I am not sure if it is the same as the Durabrand model I have but mine heats the food to boiling and then cooks and lowers the temperature automatically, it is handy if you are late preparing a meal, for example 12 noon and you want it ready for 7pm? Hope this helps. High settings usually boil quickly and is handy to use for the first hour after that reduce the temperature and you can knock at least an hour off the cooking time. Or you can use high throughout the meal and halve the slow cooking time, however this uses much more electricity than on slow.
