Radio icon is greyed out

I have had this CD player working great for years. A few weeks ago I hit a bump in my car and the radio stopped 100%. I couldn't even hear static. I switched to aux 1 and no the radio icon is greyed out and can't be opened. I Pulled out the cd player and checked wiring and everything seems to be in order.

SOURCE: sound to radio but no sound to cds or dvds

I dont know what car you've got but,You need to hook up the blue amp remote wire for the antenna, when you switch to radio the antenna signal turns your car amplifier on and you get audio and when you switch to cd/dvd it switches it off because your car is wired that way, its a common issue with Mercedes etc.

SOURCE: Everything works except the radio. It appears

If have factory amp you have to find the turn ou wre for the amp and hook it up to the amp turn on wire from the radio(bootleg way sound might cut in & out) or go to local sound shop and get a bypass for the amp

I have a 2000 Subaru outback has the stock radio and CD player in it just a few weeks ago the CD player stopped. Does it need cleaned?

I have problems from time to time with my home cd player and clean it with an air spray can used to clean computers, seems to work for me, it's a cheap first step.

Hey, the cd player on my 2004 chevy blazer works on and off only. I hit a bump and the stereo lights flashed on and off, the clock reset and the cd player worked for a week straight before going out again....

If it's what I think it is, the question is whether you have had kids in the car... (or annoying friends). I had the same issue with my radio and it turns out the cd player was being used as a coin collector.

I would disconnect the battery (following Chevrolet instructions so you don't hose the computer), then take the radio out and shake them loose (gently). (They never got the candy bar, but maybe you made some coin!)
Eventually it fried my radio, but I was able to get it repaired (it was new enough then to not just dump it). I had to be the "Fonz" and bang on the dash to get it to work sometimes.

On my 99 ultra classic radio and display go off for a few seconds when I hit either brake. It stopped working altogether late last year and started working again just a few weeks ago with no problems from...

Sounds like liquid damage to the LCD or display circuit. Try contacting Radio Sound (www.radiosound.com) for repair options. They repair 05 and older Harley radios.

Jensen cd player no longer working(self-installed)

First check the wiring to the radio. You may measure the power being ok but you also need to make sure the ground connection is ok. If this is all ok it may be that you have dry solder joints on wiring socket inside the radio or a blown track or protection diode.

Controls for radio/cd player work on and off.

I had similar issues with my audio being mute intermittenly. I ended up being a penny in the CD player slot. (I think the previous owners kid put a penny thru the CD player slot) It also shorted out my DVD system, the DVD player would not come on. The dealership where I bought it seen me to GV Electronics to have my DVD player replaced, and they removed my CD Player and heard change banging around in the Player. After dis assembling it, they found the penny. Everytime I hit a bump or go over railroad tracks, the audio would mute.

Cuttinng out

Does it cut out when you are listening to the tuner as well as the cd player? If so, you have a bad connection somewhere. Sometimes the solder joints inside the radio can be cracked and will cut out when you hit bumps. May be a wire that is a little loose. Check all the wiring.
If it only cuts out when you are listening to the CD player, you may need the lens cleaned or the laser replaced. Sometimes the cd player cuts out because the unit has too much wiggle room and it bounces a little when you hit a bump causing the cd to skip or cut out. and there is always the dirty CD. Try cleaning the CD's with windex and a soft cloth like a bath towel. It works great for me and is cheap. Fingerprints can and will cause a cd player to skip.
