My daughter overloaded the washer and now it won't drain. We took out all of the clothes and ran it several times, but water is still sitting at the bottom of the tub.

oL is an Overload error. Try running a cycle empty.
If oL (overloaded) appears in display, the load too large. If an overload is detected, the washer will drain any water and detergent in the washer. Remove several items and add HE detergent. Close lid and press START/PAUSE.

I believe yours is an upright model am I correct? some of these models had suspension and a sensor and they determined that the suspension was too weak therefore the suspension has to be changed. its for rods that mount from top to bottom that the drum sets in let me do some double checking. Okay here's the instructions that should get you going. Is the washer overloaded? The washer has attempted to ?ll and begin a wash cycle. If the washer is overloaded, it will drain any water and detergent that was added during the ?ll. To correct the overload, remove several items and add detergent. Close lid and press START. That's how it should be perfect world where washing machines are constructed with quality materials. However, in this wasteful world of poor quality the inner tub may be jammed in the down position, unable to float off the drive hub because of a rusted drive shaft! Or hopefully there is just a sock or something lodged in between the inner and outer baskets causing the same result. Let me know if that works
It is overload error.

Were the settings appropriate for the clothing?
The settings on the machine should be set properly for the load. Different fabric types require different wash/rinse temperatures, spin speeds, and wash times. Always follow the instructions printed on the fabric care label. The soil level needs to be set in accordance with the load type. Heavily soiled clothing will not come clean with a light soil level setting.
Was the proper detergent used?
If too much detergent is used, or non-HE detergent is used, the machine will not wash properly. Too many suds present during a wash decreases tumbling action and will not rinse out well. Furthermore, detergent residue built up in the machine over time will deposit extra detergent on clothes and deposit soil back into clothing.
Was the washer overloaded?
If the machine is overloaded, the machine will not wash and rinse properly. When the washer is overloaded, the clothes have no room to tumble, and the cleaning performance of the washer is reduced. In addition, when the clothes are packed tightly inside the drum the detergent and water will not distribute evenly throughout the items.
Front loaders require regular maintenance to ensure optimum performance. If this maintenance is not followed, residue can accumulate in the drum resulting in detergent and soil being deposited back into clothing. This can also lead to odor and other issues. Perform the required maintenance regularly (once or twice a month).
Overloading the machine puts extra strain on the motor and the smoke you saw was most likely coming from the motor. As you unplugged it and it ran normally the next time, you may have avoided doing any damage - or at least serious damage - to the motor.
You should be able to continue using the machine with no problem, but don't be too surprised if your motor quits in future. If you are using the machine again and you notice smoke - whether you've overloaded the machine or not - switch it off and have it replaced or at least inspected.
You may have overloaded your washer. Some washers have a safety trip feature that activates when the motor is overloaded. Try unplugging the washer and removing the clothes. Once you have done this, go ahead and start the washer again. If you that doesn't work, you made need to check if you have blown an internal fuse or call a qualified technician. I hope this helps. Good luck.
