Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
My Son has a ps2 game console. He plays all the time. All of a sudden the games no longer play and they do not even spin when he puts them in. How do I fix this?
Like previous post said the Lazer is the major part of this problem and the most common trouble to occure.
Then again, you have to chack many things to be sure this is your problem so here is something I hope will help you.
Warning in the next part you need to put a disk on the spindle before trying to close anyswitch to avoid laser beam.
1 -- in order for the disk to spin 2 switch must be close. those switch are locate at rear left of the tray and on the power button assembly. so if the casing is not close you can try to make the disk spin by closing those two switch. dont forget to put a disk.
Then if the disk rotate and you still can't read a game the disk is maybe dirty or the lazer is shot.
2 -- in order for the spindle motor to run, the ribbond calble of the lazer should be connected to the lazer (be completelly in) and the plastic lock should be close otherwise no contact with the lazer electronic and no spindle rotation. (yes they are related to each other)
3 -- if you replaced the laser be sure to remove the sodering bridge use for anti-static other wise disk wont turn and you end up with navigator screen.
here is a site that will show you picture of the assembly as well as the soldering that need to be remove.
hope this will help you all:
