Sharp 36K-S400 We recently purchased a used 36K-S400 and are having a weird problem with it. If we have the TV on any channel OTHER than channel 2, selecing a new channel or using flashback features work fine. But if we have it on channel 2 and try to go to another channel or flashback to another channel we just get a "snow" on every channel, even going back to 2. The only way we can get back to channel 2 is to go to 56 and then all channels are accessible again. Also, if we are watching any channel and then punch in 13, it goes to snow and we have to reset in order to access any channels. Anyone have any insight to this strange issue?

Check the tuner input mode it has (air, cable, hrc, irc) with new stations updating to HDTV the demodulation at the tv sometimes looses the color burst sync. I have seen this with more and more tv's with pip tuners , it resets to the default of air ( rabbit ears ) at 75ohms and the low band snow, when you go to the high band (56+) it finds the color sync and resets the vestigial sideband offset, it happens more often if the SAP or CC is also trying to aquire the proper offset. good luck.

There are bad solder connections around the vertical output ic mounted to a heat sink close to the fly-back transformer, if you are handy with a soldering iron that would be the best option, if not! then you will need a TV repairman, since the set is 12 years old the money would be best spent on a new television.

Whenever I turn on the TV it turns on in component input mode therfore forcing me to have to change the input every time I turn on the TV just to watch it! Can you please help me?

There may be an option in the menu section of the T V (may be by using the remote) that is switchable between turning on with last channel viewed, or it is set to turn on to a particular channel or input such as that component input. Hope this helps.

Freak accident, won't show 75% of channels now!

I lost the manual to this set, but last night I found the Menu button on the remote. I pressed it and then clicked SetUp. There was an option for Quick SetUp of Cable/Satellite. I clicked that and it was then able to find all my cable channels again. I still do not know how we messed it up by bumping the remote -- especially when it was turned 90 degrees away from the screen -- but this has restored it. Thanks.
