I cannot factory reset my cell phone. Something happened after a factory upgrade and my phone doesn't work any more.

When performing the factory reset procedure we are about to describe, it is important to keep in mind that the IP phone will lose all configuration files and phone applications. This means that it is necessary to have CallManager or CallManager Express setup so that the IP phone will be able to receive the new information (phone application and configuration) after the reset procedure is complete, otherwise it is most likely that the IP phone will not be usable until this information is loaded on to it.
This preparation also happens to be the procedure for upgrading a Cisco IP phone firmware.



Follow the steps below to successfully factory reset your Cisco 7942, 7962 IP phone:

1. Unplug the power cable from the phone and then plug it back in. The phone begins its power up cycle.
2. While the phone is powering up, and before the Speaker button flashes on and off, press and hold #. Continue to hold # until each line button flashes on and off in sequence in amber.
3. Release # and press 123456789*0#.

You can press a key twice in a row, but if you press the keys out of sequence, the factory reset will not take place.
After you press these keys, the line buttons on the phone flash red and the phone goes through the factory reset process.
Do not power down the phone until it completes the factory reset process and the main screen appears.

Try holding volume up while powering on. Should take you to bootloader menu with factory reset option.

You more than likely have a bug from a download. I have the same exact phone and have updated it as well with no problems.

You have a couple of options here;

Some have been able to use the default password 12345 for this Nokia;

You can contact Nokia and have them reset it for you;

Try the *#7370# reset code and if that does not work try the deep reset.

You will have to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost. All of it.

You can try the "3 finger deep reset".

Power your off,

depress and hold these three keys simultaneously * 3 green phone

power on phone using the on/off button while keeping the three keys depressed until you hear

the start-up tone.

You can also try;

1- Turn the device off

2- Press and hold "shift" "space" and Back space keys

3- Turn on the device by pressing the on button

4- Wait till the nokia logo appear

The phone should have reset itself.

These options work for some people; but when i tried it; i had to take out the battery after powering the phone off; THEN performing the steps. It took several attempts; but it wiped the phone back to factory.

You can reset this phone by holding the CAMERA + GREEN CALL + RED buttons simultaneously while powering up the device. Once booted enter the security code "12345".

try to factory reset your phone.. if still problem persist then upgrade your Firmware through PC SUITE.
please note that resetting to factory restore / Upgrading the FW may delete all the data..so it is advisable to take all the backup..try to backup all the msgs through PC SUITE before attempting any trick.

Trying powering down the phone and powering it back up. Then, restart your upgrade if necessary.

memory full-it is caused because the phone uses some internal memeory for ram like bluethooth connectio,wifi so please reset your phone to factory settings

system error-this is due to the firmware plz upgrade it to the latest version by connection to the pcsuit and plz do have an antivirus in your mobile


Soft Reset
Soft Reset will clear pending errors and bring your mobile to an initial state by restoring Factory setting. To operate this function on your mobile, the shortcut is: *#7380#

This function apparently works on almost all nokia mobile phones.

Hard reset
It may happen that despite you have restored your mobile to factory setting, the error still exist. In this case, it is recommended that you opt for Hard reset

Enter the code: *#7370# and press Yes to confirm initialization.

Important Notice: It is recommended that you save all important information on your phone (e.g: memo, contacts etc)

Quite possible the upgrade failed and has corrupted something.

You will need to find out how to perform a Cold reset as this should return it back to factory defaults.
